Minnesota @ Wisconsin: 1/22 & 1/23

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin: 1/22 & 1/23

When eventually they apply their newly acquired skills to counting National Championship banners... well, you can imagine the trauma they invariably experience at learning the awful truth that we have ONE MORE.
Catatonia often sets in.

Ahhh, now I understand why tDon didn't want to schedule Denver and Nodak Hawks.

Minnesota has never liked playing Canadian schools anyway.

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin: 1/22 & 1/23

Only three without Nodaks and Austrians. Pretty pathetic for the State of Hockey. LSSU level of achievement.

Then that'd be three with rosters entirely of instate talent.

Unprecedented in D1 sports.

And since teams like, say, North Dakota and Wisconsin wanted to play hockey too, the state has been generous in providing it's wealth of hockey players and coaches to the less fortunate (which is to say, less talented) to it's immediate East and West.

The State of Hockey indeed.

Don't be silly. The reason is that each year hundreds of gopher fans sneak across the border and visit the Kohl Center where Phil very graciously teaches them to count. Soon they are counting all sorts of things. Like the number of pet goats they keep and how many ice holes are in Ole's shanty, and so on... When eventually they apply their newly acquired skills to counting National Championship banners... well, you can imagine the trauma they invariably experience at learning the awful truth that we have ONE MORE.

Now it's true we find you all disgusting, but we're not Monsters. The banners have been quarantined until a solution can be found. (And frankly, having a bunch of drooling catatonic gopher fans in the stands maybe just another normal day at Marriucci, but we really don't want to accommodate them forever.)

Perhaps if you guys would hang an extra participation banner like some of your more forward thinking sister schools do, it would help ease the shock a bit.

Good stuff.

Maybe the solution to your mens hockey banner problem is not to play as an afterthought in an obstructed view, converted bouncyball arena.

See, here's where the advantage of a quality education shows.

It's actually a hockey arena converted to play bouncyball in. The ice is always there, the bouncyball floor goes in and out. It would be ludicrous to do it the other way.

It seems ludicrous either way to me, but that's just me ;)

Hmmm, this Wisconsin grad questions the wisdom of a hockey arena where the entire ice sheet is not visible from the stands.

That said, it has certainly proved to be an advantage to what's left of the men's hockey fan base.

A fair amount of truth to that, actually.

Gopher fans talking attendance smack.

That's rich.

Maybe we will do that. But don't you think it may be a better idea for bucky to do that? When does your team plan on participating in anything worthy of hanging a banner? The B1G tournament? Just showing up would be an accomplishment for that team to our east that might warrant a banner. Forget about the part about all 6 teams automatically make it in. The paint thinner will help the fans forget that part and be properly impressed.

Wisconsin grad?

Ah yes--> The Wisconsin Reciprocity Charity for Students Universally Disadvantaged by being Minnesotans program. I almost forgot how generous and awesome we are.

A fair amount of truth to that, actually.

Sure, but what else are they going to do with them? They have an overpopulation of Hockey players who produce absolutely nothing, except a significant drain on society and more hockey players. If left unchecked it will soon lead to all of Minnesota becoming one giant welfare state where nobody does anything except skate around all day clearing the fog off their visors. (I wonder if Bob Barker has heard about this?)
Now we, being the prescient and wonderful peoples that we are, see what's going on and generously offer to take in and adopt some of these poor hockey playing refugees. We provide food and shelter in addition to a place to play, and teach them to be productive members of society. All at no small expense I might add. (Sticks alone run tens of thousands.)

We do all this and yet we're supposed to be thanking them? Typical Minnesotans.

I feel a bit awkward using an actual fact in this discussion as it's not really my cup of tea. But at this point The Badgers have won 50% of the B1G tournament titles. The same number as the gophers. Here's Phil to help with the counting:

Congrats on winning two games in a row in a weak conference.

Regular season title >>>>> Playoff title

Are you implying there's a good chance of winning this year? Heh...

Looks like he's predicting how many wins bucky will have the rest of the year. That's about right.

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin: 1/22 & 1/23

In terms of quality and consistency, sadly not much has changed for the Wisconsin Badgers over the past two seasons. Since 2014 to the present, the Badgers under the leadership of Mike Eaves have played a total of 55 college hockey games and won only 8 of them. That is rock bottom for the Badgers in 45 years. This season the only teams that have fewer wins in the entire NCAA are upstart Arizona State and Niagara.

For a school and a fanbase that once boasted about its successes of the past, the incompetence of the coaching staff and the consistent poor quality of their teams is the main reason why diehard Bucky fans are embarrassed and no longer financially support the current regime. According to the Madison Capital Times, season ticket sales are down 52 percent from just nine years ago. This season's home games at the Kohl have drawn the smallest crowds in 18 years.

Conventional wisdom indicates when fan support dwindles ($$$), it's time to look at a complete overhaul from the coaching staff on down. As already proven true, minor changes to associate staff are not going regain the former reputation Badger fans were accustomed to. In my opinion, a regime change is necessary and Mike Eaves should probably be fired at the end of what appears to be another disastrous season for the lowly and pathetic Wisconsin Badgers Men's Hockey program.

It is very gracious of your fair state to accept some of the finest and skilled Minnesotans to do what the fine citizens of Wisconsin are, sadly, incapable of doing.

We believe it's our regional duty to lend assistance to those in need. Especially these days, what with Scott Walker successfully turning Wisconsin into a northern version of Mississippi.

We understand that you can't thank us. We understand. Knowing that you'd like to, is thanks enough.
