Minnesota @ Wisconsin : 02/15 - 02/17

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin : 02/15 - 02/17

If we were to sit together I would be respectable. I do know the rules and have a good grasp of what is going on in college hockey. In the 06 FF I sat next to a Gopher fan for both games and enjoyed it. He was respectful of the games as was I. You and Jess Myers should get together and you can complain about our fans together. Yes that is a hockey arena as well as roundball. When its full and its a year the Badger Hockey team is competing near the top of the WCHA and Pairwise its a great place to watch hockey. Its even better when your wearing Red. To generalize that we are all mindless fools you know little of the game is not accurate. Why do Gopher fans feel entitled to tell us all how much they know and how good their team is all of the time? Maybe John Hall can come back and your team can return to where it was a few seasons ago.

You need to work on your reading comprehension, rather than just your insecure projections.

I didn't say that there were no knowledgeable fans, but those that are knowledgeable are in the vast minority. There are Badger fans here who think Friday's game was called fairly, but the overwhelming people I saw at the Kohl Center though the Badgers lost because of the refs. Its something that is far worse in Madison than any other arena I've been to, and it is something that I find embarrassing and painful to watch on the few times I go to a Badger game when they are playing someone else.

I also never said that the Kohl Center can't be a fun place to watch a game, I said you were wrong when you said it was built for Hockey. It is a simple fact that it was built as a basketball arena, where they also installed ice, and anyone who has ever sat in the 3rd deck, unable to see a large part of the rink knows this. It's basically the exact opposite of the Bradley Center, where they play basketball, but it was built as a Hockey Arena, with the goal of luring an NHL team to Wisconsin. How's that working out, btw?

Yes, it is a generalization, but having lived in Wisconsin for 10 years and having gone to every Gopher/Badger game in Madison and now Chicago for longer than that, you're being less than honest if you think the Badger fan base as a whole is as knowledgable about hockey as others.

I have heard FAR too many times Badger fans yell "their goalie left the net, get the puck" or something similar on delayed penalties on the Badgers.

There were a few Badger fans trying to trash talk at the game yesterday when the Badgers went up 3-0 and even my buddy who is a Badger fan was embarassed. If you don't understand the game, don't try and trash talk. Especially when your fans are outnumbered at a game that is supposed to be your home game by opponent fans by at least 3-to-1. That is my only advice.

Since they are such experts at everything hockey, maybe Soldier Field should've hired Gopher fans to maintain the ice. Brent and co. would've had it in perfect condition, I'm sure!

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin : 02/15 - 02/17

And Gopher fans wonder why everyone likes to see them fall on their face.

Oh yeah, it's envy.

Hint: It might be due to your collective doosh-baggery.

Yeah, I'm sure that your student section spends the game discussing things like the benefits of a top down breakout strategy.

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin : 02/15 - 02/17

Hell, most of our student section could execute it.

Therein lies the difference....

You as fans trying to score points with that is the difference.

Why do you hate yourselves? Your program has a decent history. Top ten all time for sure.

You guys should be proud. Chin up!

Sorry Gurt, but the jokes about the cluelessness of your fan base in general are based largely on real experience. Moan about it all you want, but I've heard some absolutely ridiculous stuff at Badger games over the years. Just own it. No one is saying all Badger fans are clueless.

My in-laws are a prime example, and aren't too proud to admit it.

Not necessarily but I'm quite sure most can properly define cross-check. While that likely isn't true in WI, I bet most know all the steps to every between period dance. I guess that's something to be proud of.

Wasn't meant to score points. Many of those students played the game.

It was a casual observation.

And how could you hate a Gopher program that just took 5 of 8 points on the season against the Badgers. Again.

Yeah, but we suck this year (and last) and you needed 7 of 8 to catch Jan.

Have fun with that.

Ding Ding Ding!!! We have a winner!

While I love to watch the style of play that Minnesota normally exhibits in normal conditions, some of their crybaby fans whining incessantly about the game yesterday has proven to be even more fun.

I will certainly agree that, in general, our fan base is too arrogant for sure. It's just a game and this should be for fun. I'll have to disagree with the "doosh-bag" comment. Quite a bit of that from Badger fans last night as well.
