Minnesota @ Wisconsin : 02/15 - 02/17

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin : 02/15 - 02/17

I'm trying to remember even one "Bucky fan" who said anything at all like that?

I didn't see any bad calls.

Good to see at least someone in red has a concept of the rules.

At the game, I couldn't go 30 seconds in the 3rd period with someone sitting around me crying about how the "refs need to go back to minnesota" or "can't win when the refs won't let you." Not that I expect any less when I'm at the Kohl Center, because it happens basically any time a badger gets checked without a penalty, but boy it goes old.

Since the game is being played at a football field, are we going to see some of this between the 2nd and 3rd period?

Not a lot of "glide" for the puck or goalies during the Notre Dame - Miami game.
Glad MN - red team have the later game today as the sun won't be shining directly on the ice.

No question about it and it makes me ****ing sick. Not to mention only WI kids, how many from other states and provinces have turned their noses up at WI because of the system? I'm not "anti-trap", but you've got to have ****ing balance.
Been out of town and just watched the VHS tape (yes) of the game last night. Haven't read all the posts, so sorry if already mentioned. During the MN / UND series, a lot of posters commented that Bucky was no longer as big a rivalry for them as the Whoiux. A lot mentioned WI having some down years contributing. I think part of it is how boring WI hockey is to watch. When UND and MN have good teams and both are playing well, games are up and down the ice with lots of scoring chances. It gets you off your seat/sofa. Against WI, not so much. Not for several years. You just sit and wait through a bunch of neutral ice play for one scoring chance followed by a bunch more neutral ice play. Hard to get too fired up for a series with this type of play year after year. (Sort of like the way the NHL is, unless they make the extremely unlikely decision to start playing on Olympic ice at some point.) And you wonder why Bucky doesn't sell out.

Sitting in Mariuci with whining, entitled fans in your ear for 60 minutes gets old too. Opening your mouth to anything anti gopher there is a big no no with the fans as well. You could stay home if you dont like it.

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin : 02/15 - 02/17

I've seen plenty of hockey, at rinks all over the WCHA, and the wholesale lack of basic knowledge of the game in Madison really stands out. A little back and forth if you're wearing another school's colors is expected no matter where you go.

And I do stay home, except during the Gopher series. I would go to a lot more games at the Kohl Center, just out of an appreciation for college hockey, if you didn't have so many fans who are so vocal about their lack of understanding of the game!

Then again, you were the person earlier who was saying that the Kohl Center was built for Hockey, right?

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin : 02/15 - 02/17

Hey, at least I haven't heard the crowd in Madison get as loud for two-on-threes in the past few years! I suppose that could be because there isn't as much of a crowd to make the noise...

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin : 02/15 - 02/17

I was right. Bad ice = Splitzky.

Game was so slow it took Mn high end skill away.

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin : 02/15 - 02/17

So, you expect to shut our "vaunted firepower" down 5x5 for a second game in a row, and expect our defense that is allowing less goals/game than your team to make as many or more defensive mistakes?

Yes, that seems like the most likely scenario. Great analysis.

Thanks, I knew you'd see it my way. :p

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin : 02/15 - 02/17

Keep the cork on your champagne bottle for a few more weeks. Hopefully the Badgers wont roll over when the Huskies head to Madison.

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin : 02/15 - 02/17

I'm glad nobody from either team got injured out there due to the bad ice. Spill by Schmidt was scary!

What I saw was Schmidt's left leg bowed, not entirely due to the ice conditions. Injured from the bad ice? Ice conditions were not that bad. I've played on much worse and so have the majority of players out there today.

It's time you changed your username to VHS.

Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin : 02/15 - 02/17

Yes, I'm sure everyone has played on worse ice, just like I have. Players were falling on occasion, with nobody around them. I don't have any proof that he fell on his own, but after watching him for the past 2 years, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he is able to skate hard, and then stop without falling shoulder first into the boards every time.

Note: I'm not blaming the game loss due to the ice, I simply stated I'm glad nobody from either team got hurt out there.

If we were to sit together I would be respectable. I do know the rules and have a good grasp of what is going on in college hockey. In the 06 FF I sat next to a Gopher fan for both games and enjoyed it. He was respectful of the games as was I. You and Jess Myers should get together and you can complain about our fans together. Yes that is a hockey arena as well as roundball. When its full and its a year the Badger Hockey team is competing near the top of the WCHA and Pairwise its a great place to watch hockey. Its even better when your wearing Red. To generalize that we are all mindless fools you know little of the game is not accurate. Why do Gopher fans feel entitled to tell us all how much they know and how good their team is all of the time? Maybe John Hall can come back and your team can return to where it was a few seasons ago.

You can't worry about Gopher fans and their idiocy. Arguing with them is pointless. Some things that they like to put out there:

1) "Fill in the Blank"s" fans are some of the least knowledgeable fans they've ever been around. Yeah, coz nobody can hear the Mooch belly-aching in unison every time a Gopher player even stumbles, assuming that it should be a penalty.

2) "Fill in the Blank's" fans whine about everything. This one's great. Check out every game thread and now the Soldier Field thread. Stores across the state are running short of kleenex and Depends.

3) "Fill in the Blank's" fans hate us so much that they are always reading our threads and posting. Again, see our thread, the SCSU thread and UND's thread.

4) "Fill in the Blank's" fans all enjoy sex with dead animals. Fair enough. Gopher fans all do this: http://stillwater.patch.com/articles/complaint-man-accused-of-having-sex-with-goat-at-axdahl-s

These things are just them projecting their own insecurities. It's best to just smile and understand that the comments that you were responding to come from self-loathing. I actually feel sorry for them as a group.

Look at their football team. These people are also mostly Vikings fans (I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy). The "State of Hockey" lost their North Stars.

It's all very sad really.

That's why it's a generalization. Of course it doesn't hold true in every case. But I'm quite sure it holds way more often than you'd think. Examples are the students who simply show up to dance between periods and the famous axe display that got more of a reaction than a badger goal.

We feel entitled because of tArrogance. We are just that awesome and knowledgable about the game. You'll pick up on that soon. :)
