Re: Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

He won 20 games on a team that only won 60 all year, I'd say that is as close to an ace as you could get.

He batted 3rd on Wednesday, and went like 3 for 5. BOX.

1. See Handyman's and Bakunin's posts.
2. Wow, way to use a good sample size. Hey, one time in softball I went 5-5. I'm the greatest hitter of all time! RE-BOX! BOOM-SHAKA-LAKA!!!! :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

Homer Simpson: Oh, people can come up with statistics to prove anything, Kent. 14% of people know that.
Kent Brockman: Touche.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

Moonshot Scott gives up a 2-run HR in the bottom of the 4th, and Delmon proceeds to hit a 2-run HR of his own in the top of the 5th to retake the lead - this is last night in reverse. :eek:

(Delmon has driven in all three MN runs tonight... is anyone else capable of driving in runs right now?)

Wasn't there some boob earlier in the thread talking about trading Delmon?

Souhan wrote an article not too long ago advocating that, so my guess is it was a reference to that (his argument: Delmon is due for arbitration and will see his pay increased - and his trade value is higher now than it will ever be due to the year he's having). If anything, I think now is the time to lock him up with a 4-5 year deal at a reasonable cost. He's about to enter his prime, and his power numbers should continue to increase.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

Souhan is a dolt. Always has been, always will be. when it comes to baseball give me Reusse. He's a fantastic baseball writer.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

Finally, the Twins break the game open after stranding runners all over the *'ing place - 7-2 in the 7th now thanks to several 2 out hits.

Souhan is a putz, but you gotta give the guy some credit for throwing terrible ideas out there that get everybody worked up. :p

If Baker continues to pitch like he did tonight, perhaps the rotation will be passable (though granted, this came against a horrible Baltimore team). :eek:

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

Baltimore is an insult to horrible...

Souhan was fine when he was the beat writer for the Twins but since he got the column duties he has been all about being a Reusse (on everything but baseball) clone...write stuff that is full of angst and try and rile up the fanbases and maybe once a month write something positive. Now he is a joke.

Delmonzy is going to get PAID! Too bad we didn't get rid of him in the offseason like half the people around here wanted because his sabermetrics were so horrible :p

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

"He hit the snot out of that ball!"

Way to say it, Bert.

Kubel comes through! Grand slam, baby!:)

Once he gets the big contract he goes back to sucking. :D

Twins struggling to win a blowout against the Orioles? Yeah we are good! :rolleyes:

ETA: They managed to strand 2 on and win 10-4. Good job by Blackburn to only give up about 7 hits in the 9th inning. Makes the 10 O's fans who stayed feel good I spose.

We are good. Blackburn on the other hand is not. That was all Blackburn.

Since I don't expect the Twins to be in play for Oswalt now, who's still out there for trade besides Lilly and Carmona?

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

No one...they wont make a trade anyways so it isnt worth putting the effort in.

On top of that, I'm not sure I'm excited for what is left. While I wouldn't be sad if a deal was made--just to shake things up if nothing else--I don't expect it and would completely agree with management in this instance. The team we have today is the team that is going to need to get it done.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

Sounds like Cuddyer's lame excuse about not wanting to play 3rd base. ;)
I wonder if at some point Gardy will realize that Valencia is probably the better option at 3B and at the dish over Cuddyer this year. Although if Morneau doesn't return, it becomes a moot point.

When it comes to baseball give me Reusse. He's a fantastic baseball writer.
Reusse is a decent read, except when he decides he doesn't like someone or something, and then that flavors everything he writes on that topic or even a slightly related one. Three years of Vikings columns where every conclusion was that Denny Green is eight different kinds of jerk got kind of old. Point made, move on to a different idea. At least with the Twins he is more likely to conclude that they are a joke instead of evil.

Brett Myers. Better ERA than Oswalt on the same team. Actually has a winning record, playing for the Astros. Has gone at least 6 innings in every start this season. 1.88 ERA in July.
