Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

Move Cuddyer to first, call up Jacque Jones. Also call up Slama. Gibson's off limits, and I thought I heard Hicks was too. I looked at the numbers at AAA, Jones had good numbers as did Slama. Nobody else had anything great....

Good pitching has become scarce and the teams that have it, know it, and want a lot for it. Ramos and Slowey ain't gonna cut it...

So you want to replace Morneau with Jones (who is 35 and has no power left for the majors) to get pitching?
That's going to help how?
Yes the pitching may improve but now the Twins can't hit.
The Twins should be learning they are going to have to upgrade the prospects they are offering, if they don't, then they are dumber than I thought.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

Well, it seems to me that Twins fans are wanting something for nothing. We should not trade our top prospects for a superace pitcher, we can't trade Morneau or Young because they are good, yet we want something that will help us (which would be a star player).

It takes talent to get talent. Pure and simple.

Since we lost the Lee sweepstakes, then I say we do nothing, or go balls deep and trade Morneau or Young. I'd prefer Mourneau, as he is the elder of the two, although not by much (4 years). However, as was previously mentioned, that position is easily replaced (maybe even by Mauer ;) ).

Time to man up, or shut up.

Uh pretty much every Twins fan said trade away the top prospects...you need to start listening to what people actually say not what PA tells you on KFAN :rolleyes: ;) :p

If they trade Justin they finish third in the division and are closer to KC than they ever should be.

Funny how this year Justin is expendable but last year Mauer wasn't...but I am sure that has nothing to do with the fact that Mauer is from St. Paul...

Who wants to bet Billy Smith tried to lowball Seattle and they laughed at his offer and never called him back. I put the odds at even money.

This has nothing to do with Brent's possible mancrush on PA...but why is he special? All he really is is a fanboy with a microphone.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

I hate PA so dont ask me. I just threw him out there because he is quite possibly the worst person on the radio and I say that with full knowledge of everyone else on local radio i.e. Sid and Reusse! :eek:

PA actually thinks Baker is a good pitcher ;)

I swear Reusse sounds like some sort of monster from Lord of the Rings.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

If they traded Justin I think I would stop watching the rest of the season. If you trade away a guy who is putting up MVP type numbers and is pretty much the only guy in the middle of the lineup who is actually playing like they deserve to be in the middle of the lineup you might as well raise the white flag.

Sorry, but unless I am getting Sandy Koufax in his prime don't even joke about trading away Justin.
I agree.

Huh. I haven't listened to KFAN for a couple years now. Try again, scooter.:p

Just like that time they lost Morneau for the final month of the season and finished third in the division.

I'm not a fan of trading Morneau. I don't think you can compare losing a guy one time for a month and succeeding vs not having him in the lineup ever again.

And yet you find a way to come up with their little phrases and quotes in your posts. Funny how that works. :p

And Maize, nice try but last season the Twins had lots of players contributing, including Mauer who was batting .350 and actually had power. (not to mention Cuddyer and Kubel) You take out Justin from that lineup and his production can be made up. This year is not the same. Mauer is batting 50 points lower with no power, Kubel has regressed and Cuddyer is, well Cuddyer. Justin is carrying the team and is the only consistent threat. Without him the lineup this season is not striking fear in anyone.

I don't want to, but what other options are there? Just like Santana said, they're always building for the future.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

I expected to come in here and bump my head because the sky is falling, but trade Morneau? That's just crazy talk.

Shouldn't trade Delmonsey either.

That just means that KFAN really hasn't changed all that much with their catch phrases, or I hear the phrases from friends and such. ;)

Kubel has been a BIG letdown. If Kubel repeated what he did last year, Mauer's numbers wouldn't be as noticeable, I don't think.

If there aren't other options besides getting rid of Morneau for pitching then there are biggeer problems with this franchise than we realize.
It makes no sense to try and get pitching better by sacrifcing one of the best hitters on the team, if not in baseball.
As I said, the option is prospects, the Twins just have to be willing to part with them if they want to get better.
Besides a team looking to dump pitching and likely payroll as well isn't going to want Morneau's salary in return.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

Let's trade the probable 2010 AL MVP for Roy Oswalt or Ted Lilly. Nevermind the fact that no one on this team (besides Young) can actually hit...or that even if we get Roy or Ted, we still have to let 2 members of the three-headed monster of suck pitch every 5 days...

Let's break this down. First of all, 60% of our pitching staff sucks. Slowey & Blackburn both suck, and Liriano & Baker both suck half of the time. Trading for Oswalt will not help these guys.

Second, without Morneau in the lineup, guys like Cuddyer, Kubel, Young and Thome have no protection around them in the lineup. Morneau is the reason those guys see pitches. There are two options if we trade Morneau. One is to move Cuddy to 1st and put Young, Span, and Kubel in the outfield. Probably won't happen, because the second option is to move Mauer to 1st. What happens with Ramos (a guy who's hitting so bad in Rochester that Seattle didn't want him) hitting every day? "Double Play" Cuddyer, "Swing & a Miss" Kubel, and Jim Thome, who is so old that Gardy is scared to make him DH every day!!!!!

Trading Morneau is such a stupid idea that I figure Souhan must have gotten the thought from Brian Sabean.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

So the NL now has home field advantage in the WS. This means the Twins will definitely win the AL. ;)

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

Well, this just makes it that much cheaper to buy my world series tickets at the Bullseye. Three games instead of four.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010 Season Part III, {sigh}

I havent watched an All-Star Game in like 7 years...the fact that it "matters" now makes me want to watch it less :D
