Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: Part IV - Thome's Quest for 600

Who could forget the fiasco with Hunter last year against the Tigers where he blew several calls including the tag out of Granderson between 3rd and home and than proclaimed after the game that He was 100% on all his calls after watching the replays despite the fact that Granderson had already admitted he was tagged in the post game interview.

Any ump that rings a batter up on every swinging third strike pretty much tells me what I need to know. What a clown. If I tried that at any level I would be laughed at... Oh wait, his daddy was an ump.

I guess seeing my first Twins' win at Target Field will have to wait until 2011.

This team has no fiery leader to keep things going in the clubhouse. No sparkplug, no energizer. They play with zero confidence and look at any Yankee, you can see there confidence in their movement, eyes, everything.

I thought a highly paid catcher would step up to be that leader...I thought wrong...

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: Part IV - Thome's Quest for 600

It's not a fair assessment of any one player to say they aren't fiery or vocal leaders and should be.

Not all people are that type of leader. Some lead by example, some are vocal, etc. Joe is never a guy who is going to wear his emotion on his sleeve or grab a guy in the dugout and tell him what he's doing wrong.

Being paid doesn't change that.

That is what comes with being the face of the franchise for better or worse. People ripped Hunter all the time when he was the leader. Mauer has been coddled locally since he was drafted he can take a little heat. If he cant handle it, then he isnt worth the ink on the contract.

note: I never blamed him for any of this just saying that this comes with the territory.

Right, I realize this, and agree. I'm saying it shouldn't happen.

And it happens when you're in the playoffs and you hit two meaningless singles.
