Gotta love Ozzie:

"There are people who don't like that I didn't get Thome. I take full blame. And if they don't like it...f* 'em!"

:D

I get putting Repko in as a defensive replacement late in these games, but I kind of wonder if Kubel is really the guy that should be replaced. Yes, Delmon covers more ground and has a stronger arm, but he is also far more likely to butcher a play. If Kubel gets there, he seems to have a better understanding of how to use that piece of leather on his left hand.

Can we replace one with Repko and the other with Punto?

Given how "lights out" our closer is, or more accurately isn't, we probably can't afford to go too crazy with defensive subs.

You answered your own question...despite Delmon's lack of ability to play well a lot of the time he has better range and a better arm you don't take him out. Plus if you need to bat again you dont want to take a guy who is batting .316 with a ton of RBIs out of the game.

There might be a psychological way of looking at this though. The balls Kubel can't reach are pretty easy for a pitcher and the rest of the team to accept. He tried, couldn't get there, next batter. Delmon's gaffes can be deflating, like the fly ball down the line that he played into a 3-run, game-tying inside-the-park HR against KC a couple years ago. I worry about anything hit over his head. I've been impressed by Kubel's D now that he's gotten to play OF on a much more regular basis. When comparing them offensively, it is basically a wash, because either can produce with a game on the line. So I guess I've reached a point where I'd rather have Kubel out there to make one play to preserve a win in spite of Young's physical advantges. Just like if Morneau ever comes back, I'd take Valencia at 3rd over Cuddyer.

no kidding. Although, this is just the unabashed homer in me saying that we have the best ballpark.

I liked CitiField better...But not by much. They had better hot dogs. Then again, Sam's Club has better hot dogs than Target Field...

Don't hate on Sam's Club hot dogs. That's the best $1.25 meal there is. :D

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: Part IV - Thome's Quest for 600

It is tough for Twins fans to be objective about Target Field, because that parking lot where Cuddyer's wheelchair team is playing would have been an improvement over the Dome. Having only seen it on TV thus far, I'd say my biggest complaint is the marble backstop. If the pitcher can't throw or the catcher can't catch, there should be more of a penalty than having the ball bounce right back to the catcher. I hope at some point they add something to deaden those caroms.

If morneau comes back cuddy will be firmly planted into right field.

What the hell is the extra point bonus?

If you click on the logos, you get full write-ups and explanations. It looks like those 2 1/2 points could a be accounted for in "USRT Assist" under the bonus points, which, I think, means that someone assisted them in getting tickets, tours etc... Apparently they did a little better in Philly than in Minneapolis.
