We're citing stats now? The Yankees will be in the playoffs. Gardy can't be the Yankees.

Enjoy the division ride cause the bus stops there. Again. At least we get 162 games of fun.

What if they Yankees win the Division? Then we could play the Rays? :D

Not sure if our record against them in the last three years is different but I hope so.

I took in my first game at Target Field last night. I enjoyed a Vincent Burger, a comfy chair, a great night and two losses (   ). I hate the Yankees so much. Did not get a chance to check out the Majestic Store and walk around the stadium much :( Next time.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: Part II - The Franchise Strikes Back

The Twins prove they have no chance to win the World Series. If you go 1-5 against the Yankees w/o facing Sabathia or Hughes, you're screwed. Gardy and the Twins are ****ing down their legs every time they see the pinstripes.

I'm sick of winning the division and that being enough for the franchise and fans. Show some progress or fire the manager and GM. Move forward or move on.

Step back from the ledge folks, the sky isn't falling. It's not even June yet.

Deep breaths...

Every game matters, remember game 163 last year? How about the year before that? This has become a tiresome argument. Games in April aren't worth 3/5 of those in July. No, you can't win a pennant in April or May, but you sure as hell can lose it.

Where, exactly, are you hearing this? Because I'm not.

Wait for it, it will come if they beat a quality team like Tampa when they play later this season.

I just love how fatalistic the fans are in this town, but I have to say it kind of takes some of the fun out of following the Twins when people are so up and down.

And yes Nathan, I'm aware of everything you said. I might say something similar if they were 4 or 5 games back in the division at this point. But they aren't, they're leading. With the 3rd best winning percentage in the AL.

Forgive me for not overreacting in May.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: Part II - The Franchise Strikes Back

The only way the Twins can make it to the WS is if they make the playoffs, draw someone other than NY in round one, and then have NY knocked off by someone else. It is glaringly obvious that this team simply can't win a series against the Yanks, no matter how well their pitching performs (and really - can you expect the pitching staff to do better than holding them to four runs over two games?).

On the bright side, the **********s are sending Javier Vasquez to the mound today.

Yes, but this is why they can win the division and be happy with that. We need to get ****ed off that they are going one and done year-in and year-out. It's old.

Gardy = Denny Green of MLB?

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: Part II - The Franchise Strikes Back

Or Flip Saunders and Bill Smith/Terry Ryan would be Kevin McHale?
No. The Twins drafting is way better than the T-wolves (with the exceptions of drafting Love/Garnett - both of whom are very good players). Their approach to payroll is also significantly better. Keep in mind that the Wolves were bumping against the salary cap (weren't they a luxury taxed team for a year or two as well?) ... and still achieved nothing more than that one conference final appearance.

The Twins have matched the T-wolves' most successful period with a vastly lower payroll relative to their peers. Now that the Twins have their new stadium, they'll spend more, but it still will mean they're a bit above average - they will never try to match the Yanks or Sox on the spending.

I'll be not happy with them going one and done again if that time comes.

Until then, as a certain Coah Tice once said, just enjoy the ride. It's going to be a fun summer (I hope).

Remember on Sunday, when I said something to the tune of "if we can't beat the god-awful Brewers, there's no chance we can beat the Yankees."

Yup.

But move along everybody. Nothing to see here.

No matter what happens the rest of the season, the twins did better against NYY than they did last year.

No, I don't think the Twins have a team that's likely to win the world series this year due to their #1/#2 starters not being lights out. But they still have a shot, and people saying they have no shot sound just as ridiculous as someone acting like they've already won the world series.

The cardinals won the 2006 world series with an 83-78 record that had two separate 8 game losing streaks in it. And you guys are already declaring the season over, the team a joke, management incompetent, etc etc etc. Really?
