Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: Part II - The Franchise Strikes Back

What tipped you off...the fact that I said it happened in 2003? ;)

Yes yes I know I know but that was too easy not to come back at ;)

Yes it was in 2002-2003 ;)

Considering I hadn't so much as set foot in marriucci until fall of 2003, i think I can be pardoned.

Too many batters worthy of the #9 spot in the order in today's games.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: Part II - The Franchise Strikes Back

And Butera raises his average to .118 with his first 2 RBI! :D

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: Part II - The Franchise Strikes Back

I'm glad the Twins are ahead, but 14 LOB already is just a sin that they have to start correcting.

We've lost over 130 runs with the bases loaded already this year. I think we are something like 7 for 50 with bases loaded. Something ridiculous like that.

Harris had the happy feet going in the 9th.

Great outing by Baker.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: Part II - The Franchise Strikes Back

My question is, how many of these LOB come from losses and how many come from wins. Then, compare that to the result of each game and see how costly they really are. I'm not concerned if we leave men on base when we win big. It comes with production.

Not the catcher I expected to deliver!

When the Baby Jesus came out on the on deck circle to hit, the bar I was watching the game at just went nuts.

I was obviously calling a patented Mauer 4-6-3, but a strikeout didn't shock me either.

We were having a party at a friend's house and I had the game up on my iPhone on MLB At-Bat. I said (somewhat puzzled), "Mauer is pinch hitting."

Every guy in the room stopped, looked at me, and I swear to you, you could see a lightbulb go off over everyone's head at the same time. We booked it downstairs and turned on the game. It was awesome.

It's an epidemic with the squad. Hopefully it's just a memory come August-September-etc.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: Part II - The Franchise Strikes Back

Has anyone bothered to see if the other teams that are winning maybe leave a lot on base too. Teams that win get lots of hits, a lot of the time those baserunners are going to go for naught. I mean just because a team gets 11 hits doesn't mean they are going to have 10 runs.

My guess is the Yankees (not last night) and other teams leave small villages on the basepaths too.

Finally someone else gets it. Thank you Handy. You plot LOB with wins and I'll bet it isn't the negative correlation most people think it is.
