Not sure what your point is. Some parts of town were without electricity for over 24 hours, and some roads were closed until they could get the downed tree limbs and powerlines off of them. Other than that, life went on. Oh, and it wasn't "a little." It was a foot, very wet and very heavy.

Re: Minnesota State, Mankato, Season Thread

At the beginning of this season, I said (not on this board) but to many of my friends, that this was going to be a long year. It is going to be a very long year.
Pretty much all the season-ticket holders I know believed the same thing.

I have been a tepid supporter of Jutting, but I feel the time has come to let him go.
The time is long past. If this season goes as I expect, it will probably be the last year for me to buy season tickets unless the university shows some sign that they give a ****.

I was talking about the football game that you guys had to delay to Sunday morning and move to Marshall to get it in because they couldn't get snow off of your field.

Oh. I don't pay any attention to football. It was probably a muddy quagmire under the wet snow, and they couldn't drive plows onto it.

That's what I heard Sunday. That first post there was me all tired and hopped up on caffeine. I just thought it was rediculous that they delayed the game because of snow, and I didn't realize that Mankato didn't have a tarp to cover the field to keep it from getting wet and making it easier to remove the snow.

Re: Minnesota State, Mankato, Season Thread

The Mavs are a very hardworking team, and I think Jutting does get a lot out of his players. The big challenge for the Mavs (and many of the teams in the WCHA) is recruiting, in my mind. Jutting had some mid-decade success in developing guys like Backes and Joseph, but since then he hasn't had the numbers of game-breaker players a program needs to stick around in order to make consistent headway in a tough league like this. And given what Jutting has to sell relative to the better programs in the WCHA, it's a tall order for him or any coach.

Well, then maybe they should just consider shutting down the program. If we have to be resigned to being a doormat in the WCHA, what's the point?

Besides, what does Nebraska-Omaha have? We routinely beat them in years past, and a coaching change has shot them right to the top of the league. What does St. Cloud have to sell their program that we don't have? Yet they manage to be in the upper half of the league more often than not.

Re: Minnesota State, Mankato, Season Thread

Should we expect any fans making the trip to Lowell? With the interest in this thread I'm guessing not.

Re: Minnesota State, Mankato, Season Thread

Come to Lowell! You can see your team get two easy wins...

What can we expect to see from Mankato? Any players to look for?

Shaky goaltending, lack of scoring, a powerplay that hasn't scored in a very long time. The best all-around player in my opinion is defenseman Ben Youds, and he's been off to a slow start. I guess we'll find out what happens when a lower-tier WCHA team goes against a lower-tier Hockey East team.

Re: Minnesota State, Mankato, Season Thread

I am heading down to Mankato for the Dec 10 series against UND, and was just wondering how available tickets typically are. In the past, I seem to remember it fairly easy; walk-up tickets were readily available. Has anything changed? Should I submit myself to the pummeling of Ticketmaster fees and purchase tickets online?

I'd hate to be wrong and have you hung out to dry, but I don't see sellouts in the immediate future.

Yeah, I've been to my fair share of UND-Mankato games and the only time I had issues getting a ticket was back in 2003 I believe when Mankato had a top notch team. I think they had an unbeaten streak of like 16 games, and swept the Sioux.

It was seventeen games. That was the Shane Joseph - Grant Stevenson team. That was fun.

Re: Minnesota State, Mankato, Season Thread

I attended the Maverick game tonight in Lowell (I am a Lowell student). All I can say is that this team never stops moving their feet and has great speed. They outworked Lowell in all aspects of the game and made it look pretty easy. My buddy got a puck from Scott the equipment manager and said he seems like a great guy. Good luck on the season. Have a happy Halloween!

Re: Minnesota State, Mankato, Season Thread

I was also at the game last night. Talk about opportunistic. Lowell kept turning the puck over and giving up odd-man rushes and Mankato kept capitalizing. Lowell controlled play for most of the first period and probably deserved better than 1-1 going into the break, but the second and third periods were all Mankato all the time. No question Lowell played arguably its worst game of the year, but Mankato looked pretty good once they settled down after the first.

Answered my question and managed to slip in a factoid about Mankato sweeping UND. Nicely done. Just purchased my tickets. Looking forward to one of my favorite series of the year.
