I thought that was the best they had played all season. They didn't spend a lot of time skating around in the neutral zone, moved the puck efficiently out of their defensive zone, and created a lot of traffic around the net. Maybe it's having Bohlsen back in the line up.
Midco troubles aside- at least I got a break from having to listen to Tech's PBP guy. He's more annoying than Bemidji's crew.
I dont mind the Tech guys. They know college hockey.
Really liked what I saw this weekend. For me, this team is at its best when they move the puck. Now they can take a week off and get some rest and build on this sweep.
Great weekend, much needed after failing to get the sweep against Northern. The stream on Friday was frustrating, but I think it was Scott Nelson that pointed out on Twitter that most of the time it's the school's fault rather than Midco or Flo's. Thought Tech's feed at least visually looked better than previous years. A little brighter and more crisp.
Across the league, almost every school could benefit from an investment in their TV production. Mankato's is often choppy and really seems like they could use a camera upgrade. I'd say Augustana's is pretty good, but every other school has at least a couple things they could make better. All that said, there's probably no financial benefit in improving things, so it'll never happen.
At least Midco has less issues than Flo did. I have not had nearly as many issues since the transition. My only complaint is I would like to see a little bit more pre-game. It seems like sometimes they start the stream right when the puck drops.
I would agree with the camera quality comment. Augustana's is probably good because it is new. The others have bigger fish to fry than upgrading the streaming equipment.
I had the same glitch Friday night, but I do keep the radio broadcast muted and ready for backup in such situations. (I'd actually prefer the radio voiceover, if it was synched to the video. Alas. My opinion so far is is the Midco transmission is superior to Flo. The picture on my computer screen is certainly more clear, although I'm not sure if that's on Midco or the host school. My minor beef is with the student announcers, mostly at Ferris and BG, who haven't developed a smooth play-by-play patter. I'll cut them some slack as they are still learning that skill.
Just bumping the thread up past all the spam.
BG isn't using students on-air talent this year (or last year or the year before that). Kevin Piel does a lot of local NW Ohio sports. I think he's decent, but I'll grant you the color guys they rotate in and out can be grating on one's nerves.
Don't want to let this sub slip too far down the list during the break...so, vibe check at the half?
Few games that I would have obviously liked to see go the other way (Fridays against Merrimack and NoDak and the tie vs Northern) but it's hard to argue with a 14-4-2 record.
Tracy has obviously been amazing, but the D corps as a whole has been impressive. Didn't predict Cichosz developing into this dependable of a player, Wheeler's been great, Ralfs was a great addition and Ashton looks like the real deal. Hopefully the rest of the goaltenders get their chance during the exhibition games.
Still need more goals and that's a direct result of Hasty leaving and basically the whole band going with him. Only two freshman forwards on the roster and neither has a point. Glad Strand was able to pull the rabbit out of the hat with the Pitlick transfer.
All in all, winning games and going into series expecting sweeps so it feels more like a couple years ago and not last year. Also have fans of other teams complaining about "The Minnesota Collegiate Hockey Conference" despite seemingly spotting oppoents a major per game.
