Suppose opening night calls for a season thread. Very intriguing team this year. Shoul know a lot about the squad by the end October, think most people would call going 0.500 in nonconference play a success.

It appears that USCHO hasn't picked up the fact that our game was moved up to tonight.
Suppose opening night calls for a season thread. Very intriguing team this year. Shoul know a lot about the squad by the end October, think most people would call going 0.500 in nonconference play a success.
Intriguing is right. Bigger and hopefully tougher. Last year a lot of points were lost because we failed to get the puck out of the defensive zone. Last year's team was a slow as well.

Yes, I'm very happy with this start. Know at least 5 who attended the game.
Big win to start the season, 5-2 over Michigan on the road!
I've been wondering how they were going to replace Morton and Sowder's scoring. Five goals by five different players is a good start.

Bit disappointing because Saturday seemed like an opportunity to at least nab a tie, but would have been satisfied with a split going into the weekend. Not going to pretend to be a Merrimack expert bu they seem to be going through some goaltending difficulties. Would be nice to be 3-1 heading into the NoDak series.

Side notes: I listened to the new Maverick radio announcer both nights. I thought he was really good. Also watched some other games on the new Midco sports platform. Those broadcasts seemed to be of high quality, unlike the Flosports package from last year. So I'm pleased with the new media this year.

In contrast, I paid up for a month of BTN+ and Michigan's production value for that is laughable. Obviously was the scoreboard feed, missed the first 15 seconds of every power play so they could show the player in the box. Kept cutting to a camera right in front of the band that had a mic that was trying to blow your speakers. Then zero commentary for the first 3.5 periods of the weekend until they randomly spliced the radio call in.
Tuned into the radio call for a bit on Friday and Matt Dean seemed very good, and the Ferris game looked better than it had in previous years so cautiously optimistic about Midco.

I assume that Don Westphal will head up the Mankato broadcasts again this year?

I am glad someone else noticed this! It is ridiculous paying $15 for that stream that was worse than FloSports. From the audio in front of the band, no commentary game 1, and the terrible camerawork my decision to cancel was made easy.

Good bounce back Saturday. A lot of 3 men high on offense on Friday, so no one crashing the net. Better on Saturday. Scoring still might be difficult for us this year, but they're playing hard and moving the puck.

I've been watching Mav hockey for over three decades now. There have been very few games that pissed me off more than last night's implosion. Geez.
I think when looking at the schedule before the season, 3-3 to this point is good. The Michigan game they lost I felt MSU played better then they did the night before, Merrimack neither night was great but this weekend they played well against a good NoDak for about 90% of the weekend. If the team we saw this last weekend is what we see for the rest of season we will be right there.

Splits with (then #7) Michigan and #5 North Dakota sandwiched between a split with Merrimack. How does everyone feel about the season so far?
Disappointed because all three losses seemed to be there for the taking, especially the last two Friday games, but a realist enough to know that 3-3 is still a pretty good place to be. Defense, goaltending and PK have all been solid. Offense and PP still needs to come around but I think there's been enough flashes to be somewhat optimistic. Looking at the rest of the league, no reason to not expect to be in the mix for the MacNaughton.
