Minnesota State 2021-22 Meet the new conference- same as the old conference

Could be a dangerous weekend at Bowling Green. They always play the Mavs very tough, and Nathan Smith and Coach Hastings are in Beijing.

True. But, pretty much everyone has missed players for some games this year. Next man up! At least we have a bye next week.

In my opinion, Nathan Smith did himself and MSU proud at the Olympics. The experience he gained by playing at this level can only help himself and the Mavericks as we go into the playoffs and the NCAA. We'll see if he plays Friday (I doubt it), but I'm certain he'll be on the ice on Saturday.

And what could have been the outcome had he has scored in the shoot out, we will never know. Coach Quinn showed his confidence in Smith by letting him take the shot. He earned that right, by his play in the previous games.

I thought he played well. It spoke volumes that he was on the "4th line" but was in the shootout. If any of those guys could have/would have just lifted the puck, they had a decent amount of net to work with.

I highly doubt he will play this weekend. From my understanding, they need 2 negative tests before they can leave. That being said, I think the earliest that they could be on US soil is likely on Friday (and that may be stretching it) and playing that soon after that long of a flight is dicey. They MAY be in the building for 1 or both of the games, but Smith playing seems very unlikely. Hasty coaching could happen.

Early on (Post # 2), I said if we went 7-3 in non-conference, we'd be in great shape in the pairwise. Well, we went 8-2, and we are almost guaranteed a # 1 seed.

Is this really correct? All but 1 seat and SRO tickets sold? I'm not sure if they have released the unused season tickets (although I'm sure there aren't too many of those). If this is correct, that's awesome and pretty amazing compared to where we were just 10 years ago. The arena should be electric.

I know they offered tickets to the hockey alumni and they said tickets were very limited and seating will be based on availability.

I've been watching ticket sales throughout the first two rounds playoffs and was looking at the championship game too. BY FAR the tickets sold much faster for the championship game. Part of that might be some Bemidji fans getting tickets too. After all, the game means A LOT to them, if they win they are in the tourney, if they lose they are out.

I was at the game last Saturday and as I was walking out after the game, there was a line down the hallway for the ticket booth, people must have been buying the tickets right after the game for the championship!

Go MAVS!

I'm hoping mine will be available to pick up tomorrow. I got the email confirming my order, but not yet the one telling me they're ready.

I got my notification this morning. Last week I had to call the ticket office to see if mine were ready as I didn't receive an email. You may need to do the same.

Well, that was certainly an interesting finish. Gotta give credit to the commish, for making the call and setting things right. And to the coaches and players for their very classy display of sportsmanship. Hockey doesn't always get it right, but it did last night in Mankato.

As always, the Mavs get zero respect. None of the three ESPN guys on the selection show picked the Mavs to make the Frozen Four, and their opening game was put in the coveted 11 am on Thursday time slot, when everybody is at work or school.

The #1 overall plays at 2pm Friday. How is that any different?

Well, I can't speak for Michigan, but I can tell you that there are almost no classes scheduled on Fridays at MSU. You can fire a cannon down the halls and not hit anybody.

Coaches and players prefer the early slot for the opener. Gives them a few extra hours between games.

Not as big a deal with an extra day in between games for the regionals now. Better for attendance to have the 'local' teams playing later, like Denver playing the late game in Loveland.
