Minnesota State 2021-22 Meet the new conference- same as the old conference

Great sweep but if UMass doesn't do anything this season those wins might not mean much. I have much more interest in this weekend against St Cloud. Let's hope the guys aren't over confident going into this weekend

Oh, but they do mean a lot. nCCHA was 4-4 this weekend against non-conference teams. If we lost both games the CCHA would be 2-6 against non-conference opponents. These games that we win against quality opponents mean a lot, not only to us, but the whole conference as far as pairwise. And 2 of those losses were by St. Thomas.

Ditto this weekend against SCSU. Based on your statement, the same could be said if we win both and St. Cloud doesn't do anything this season, those wins "wouldn't mean much". Everyone knows that both Massachusetts and St. Cloud are quality programs, so these were huge wins.

Not only that, a few years ago, we went into Boston and swept BU. Those wins against a quality opponent (although BU wasn't as strong as usual that year) were and are huge confidence boosters to the team.

Even though the BG nation thinks you all suck balls, it’s great to see you (and Bemidji and even the Lakers) carrying the CCHA torch. It’s important for all league members that the CCHA be perceived as a 2-bid league (and not a 2-bit league). Congrats on the big weekend, good luck next weekend.

No respect for Ferris Buehler?

I was so impressed with the games last weekend I decided to buy tickets for Friday's game. #1 vs #2 - how often does that happen and you actually have a chance to see it!?! You can find me in the nose bleeds -section 315 :)

Nice. Last time I got Friday/Saturday tickets was when they came out here to play Princeton.

MSU beat St. Cloud 1-0 in front of a near-sellout crowd of 4,555. Dryden McKay made 20 saves to record his NCAA career record tying 26th shutout. The crowd was really into it; it was great to back to hockey in person.

.

All wins are good but looking at UMass I didn't see a team that would be top 10 at the end of the year. St. Cloud looked the part against St. Thomas and even last night they were very good team. I think theres little doubt cloud will be a top 10 team.

Not sure who was all there last night but that game started off extremely fast. I'll be interested to see how much energy they have tonight. It was a really good game. Much more entertaining then 1-0 game usually is.

I didn’t get to see either of the games this weekend, but tonight’s score updates were certainly much more entertaining.

I don't claim to be enough of a hockey maven to tell whether St. Cloud was better tonight or if the Mavs were a little worse. I do know those were two very good hockey teams the last two nights.

Was able to watch both games. Tight defensive minded games both nights from both teams. Scoring chances extremely limited both ways. Both goalies played well but neither had to make many highlight reel saves. Saturday night had a ton of penalties as both teams were getting frustrated by the lack of open ice and ability to get much offense going.

Long way to go but both teams have games that point to potential for a deep run in the NCAAs.

It would sure be nice to be able to watch these Icebreaker games.

What a schedule to start things out. Two against then-#1 Umass at Amherst. Two against #2 St. Cloud. One against #10 Providence.

First-ever matchup with the #3 Wolverines tomorrow. Wow.
