:) Minnesota @ Michigan: 3/14 3/15...Only Need Two

Re: :) Minnesota @ Michigan: 3/14 3/15...Only Need Two

No message was sent aside from telling Csmmy to play harder and there's nothing wrong with that. That's all. They won't play another game of that nature for the rest of the season and I think once again some fans are overreacting. There's zero reason to believe an overall tone was set that will carry over to next weekend

Would agree. Rest Wilcox and Warning. I was most surprised about Cammy change. The team did look kind of tired, so I don't mind giving the impression of a small break (the team bounced back from its UMD loss). Likewise, the coaching staff is there on the ground and has both more experience and a better read on the team than we do.

Michigan has horses and last night they played hard. In the end, the Gophers allowed too many odd man rushes, Shibby let in some soft ones and our team couldn't get past its two goal minimum. Frankly our offense scored two goals this weekend. Next loss will likely be for the same reason.

Offense has to score. Bottom line, I agree. Let's see what they can learn from this and move on.

Hope Lucia is satisfied with his goalie self-esteem effort.

Geez does Shobrowski suck.

4 of those goals would probably have gotten past Wilcox. Gophs actually played well for long stretches. A bad cough up by Brodzinski and what looked like an acting job on the elbow didn't help. But it was just one of those nights when UMi hit the corners, which from reading some of the fan posts, doesn't happen regularly. UMi goalie also played a part.

Have no problem playing Shibrowski, but if Wilcox needed the rest, he should have been given it earlier IMO. Didn't like the rest of the changes.

So they should have rested Wilcox in November and he would be feeling great now? A night off helps in the near future, not for months to come. These are college kids. Remember that kids nearly the same age are playing double the games in the NHL. And I wouldn't doubt it was as much about giving Shibby another game as a reward. Furthermore, maybe Lucia expected the letdown and was hoping that putting Shibby in, who is obviously well liked by his teammates, would get them to play harder than if they new they had Wilcox there to back them up if they got beat. Coaches change goalies for this reason all the time.

I also have no problem with resting Warning either. If he is banged up, it is a good thing.

The Gophs still controlled long stretches in this game, but made some costly mistakes, some once they were behind and pressing to come back. While they weren't on top of their game, I didn't see a team that didn't show up either. UMi took advantage of what was given to them. UM didn't. Wasn't a major error by the coaches.

When did I say they should have rested him in November instead?

Look, I get the point you are trying to make, and I don't 100% disagree with you, but please don't take my point to the extreme to try and prove your point. You didn't have to. Your point was solid without having to do that.

Personally, I don't really think he needed the rest. And if he did, perhaps it should have came at home. That said, hard for me to second guess the coaching staff when I don't know first hand how Adam is doing. I just question the decision. Doesn't mean I am necessarily right or wrong.

Wish I knew more about why Cammy was moved to the 4th line. If it was to send a message, hopefully it worked. If it was just tinkering with the lines, then I question that move even more.

Resting Warning I had zero problem with.

Anyways, just my $0.02. What's done is done. Turning my focus to next weekend.

They are obviously in a much better situation to make that judgment. You claim that it is hard to second second guess the coaching staff on their decision? It seems any easy thing for you to second guess. If you mean you can't competently second guess them, I would agree. You can insist that you aren't necessarily right or wrong. Okay. It isn't necessary you are wrong, but it is highly likely.

What is your deal? It's just hockey discussion on a message board man. Lighten up Francis.

What I meant is, in my mind I question the roster changes. Wasn't what I would have done. Yet, I fully admit that the coaches are in a far better position to decide what is best for this team.

What's done is done. I hope I'm proven wrong.

I'm here to help. You looked like you needed it.

I'm sure he didn't but why not give Shibby the game in his last regular season game. Looking back it may not have been the smartest thing to do, but its not the end of the world we didn't win that game. So I'm good. Maybe if we need Shibby the rest of the way he got the one bad game out of his system and will be solid.

Did no one else notice he did this mid-way through the game on Friday night? This wasn't isolated to Saturday, it happened on Friday as well.

Re: :) Minnesota @ Michigan: 3/14 3/15...Only Need Two

I didn't have a problem with starting Shibby on Saturday. It turned out horribly, but I don't think anyone expected that as he was very good in his other spot starts(yeah, one was against PSU but still...). Plus I don't put all the blame on him for all of those goals. Brodzinski and Marshall(I think) had a terrible defensive lapse on one and that goofy bounce of that glass was just that.....goofy. There were some soft ones, but again, I don't think anyone really expected that based on his previous starts this season. I'm not worried about "taking the foot off the pedal" or anything like that. I hope they'll be ready to go for the BTT. If not, they will still have a high(if not, #1) seed in the NCAAs......at "home". Hopefully if there is any rust, which I don't foresee, just playing the game some of you seem to be playing right now, it will be knocked off at the BTT and they will be ready for the NCAAs.

As I understood it, it sounded like an in-game shuffle to get a bit better spark going, and it certainly worked Friday night, so I assume tDon just kept with that on Saturday.

Fair enough. You all make some good points.
