Minnesota & Mankato State: Home and Home - 11-18/11-19

Re: Minnesota & Mankato State: Home and Home - 11-18/11-19

I miss this aspect of college hockey because the B10 sucks.
I would agreed with your claim if you made it a year ago, but have you checked the B10's non-conference record this season? If it "sucks" how would you describe the WCHA's? :D

Kinda reverse weekend for me as I'll be in attendance Friday in Kato but will miss the Saturday game at home. Got invited to a suite at the Xcel Saturday so Jr and Mrs goldy will be going Saturday.

Got spanked. The weather today was better than this game.

Have to agree with somethings said earlier as to enjoying playing against old rivals/wcha teams. Having many friends, co-workers who love the rodents these are the games I enjoy winning the most.
Tonight's win was great. Was worried given our play recently. Now time to get the sweep.

Cheers for the Purple Mavs!

Maybe the not so golden gophs should try playing some Division III teams from Minnesota

Re: Minnesota & Mankato State: Home and Home - 11-18/11-19

MUCH better effort all around for the Gophers this evening. Even though just one goal was scored it was very exciting from puck drop to the final horn. It appeared the Mavericks were off their game somewhat, but a more determined Gophers team had a lot to do with it. Honestly I didn't think the one goal lead was going to hold up, especially in the final minutes when the Mavs put on some sustained pressure, but Schierhorn slammed the door on some great chances that nearly tied it. But overall the Gophers were the better team tonight and deserved the win. Hopefully that'll give them some confidence heading into their Eastern swing next weekend.

I didn't get to watch, we turned on Wally/Frank, built as big of a fire as we could, and sat outside in the cold with some cigars and beers. Sounded like Wally and Frank weren't real happy with the Gophers play in the 3rd, wanting a little bit more push instead of sitting back. Good to hear Scheirhorn was back on his game again, he needs to get more consistent though(and he got very little help on Friday). Saw the highlight of the goal, not pretty but I love to see the scrappy goals too.

Not exactly happy with a split but not the worst outcome either. Here's to hopefully a couple post-Thanksgiving Ws!
