Minnesota hosts Wisconsin: March 2-3 - MacNaughton in the house

Re: Minnesota hosts Wisconsin: March 2-3 - MacNaughton in the house

I got a fancy booklet today from the UW Athletic Department today. They want me to donate. Still mulling over a few ideas on what to send back in the return envelope.

Something I found interesting is that there are 14 pages that have prominent images of various Badger athletics. The hockey programs comprise exactly 0% of these images.

The good news is we get Marshall and Larson going again. The bad news is Bjugstad is gone and I'm worried about it.

You have to take into account the fact that the large majority of the hate stuff is nothing but humor--for most fans, I think. I love college hockey no matter who is playing and frankly don't get very bummed when the Sioux lose. It's more fun, though, when you can also give and take a little guff. That's why the titles are not that big a deal. The season gives us a lot of great hockey experiences, while the occasional banner is more of a bragging right than an experience. The bragging right means next to nothing to me now, except for the good natured teasing it is useful for.

Besides, it's harder to really feel the old Gopher hate when gopher players have been getting smaller, weaker and slower every year. I'd include uglier, but there has never been much room for change in that regard.

If you weren't a UND fan you might pass for a decent human being.

Wisconsin sure knows how to play Jacques Lemaire style hockey. Good job. Not only the worst game of the year for the Gophers but also the most boring.

The BADgers played as a team tonight (fourth win in row), goalie played better, good D, didn't give up lots of odd man rushes. We obviously weren't mentally prepared as a team tonight (without Bjugstad in the lineup), lots of mistakes, no consistent energy to the puck...crapola. Tomorrow night will be different.

Good question. You'd think a conference championship would be enough incentive. Heck, you'd think a rivalry game would be enough incentive.

From what I heard the season wasn't on the line so the game didn't matter. It'll change in the playoffs apparently.

If we win tomorrow night we win the MacNaughton cup outright and tonight's crapfest will be forgotten.

Minnesota clinches the top seed in the WCHA playoffs with SCSU win over Minnesota Duluth.
