Minnesota hosts Wisconsin: March 2-3 - MacNaughton in the house

Re: Minnesota hosts Wisconsin: March 2-3 - MacNaughton in the house

So you think Schmidt was sick of hearing about how great Schultz is? He was stepping up all weekend. He hasn't stood out as much the last few weeks, but this weekend he played huge.

Great game, nice to have the cup all to ourselves.

Eaves is a big whiner my god.

Becky will be tough in the playoffs.

Well, overall the Badgers did better than I expected. Congrats to the rats on another trophy. Meanwhile, I need a few brandy old fashioneds.

Thanks Grandpa. Everybody knows the best selling brandy state is Wisconsin.

Badgers played well all weekend. If it weren't for some fantastic individual efforts by Haula and Schmidt, Wisconsin may have swept.

It was the Karate Kid's "You're the best" that put them over the edge tonight.

Agreed, the BADgers will give ND a tough series. tDon said, Eric Haula has never won a hockey trophy in his life...so this one was very special for him.

Amazing turn around from last night for the Gophers. Wis. only had 4 grade A chances the WHOLE game (SOG 33-18)! Congrats to the seniors who fought hard through adversity for 4 years and are now well acquainted with the lows and highs of playing in the WCHA. Congrats to the 2011-12 WCHA Champion, University of Minnesota Golden Gophers!

The Sioux might get them, but I'm sure they don't want them.

Congrats Gophs. Puts the last three years further in the past, I'm sure.

fyp. Like Scooby said, BADgers played really well all weekend. One question though - does Eaves bring Robbie back to teach his diving technique? There were at least two, maybe three interferences called on the Gophs tonight that were the most blatant of dives. And they kept on doing it, even after the refs finally figured it out and quit buying it. Ramage was hugely ***ed when Rau gave him a taste of his own medicine and drew an interference on him.

just like last time at the Ralph?

They are playing much better over the last 5 games or so, we'll see but I would wager on the evil paint thinner dead deer F'ers to our East.

Really entertaining game tonight. Congrats to Minnesota on the Trophy. I thought the Badgers played very well against a top tier team on the road. Even though Minnesota carried portions of the play, and the Badgers were outshot, I thought it was a pretty close game. A couple big mistakes cost us (Zengerle could have easily skated around the Minnesota player, never should have had that turnover lead to a short hander...also Ramage's penalty that lead to the second Minnesota goal was just plain stupid).

The Rau hit was beautiful...I agreed with the announcers on that one...not even close to a penalty. Officiating was pretty bad, but in the Badgers favor overall...so I can't complain.

Even though we lost tonight I felt like we definitely gained momentum this weekend, and am looking forward to getting a road victory next weekend and making it to the final five.

Good series as these should be. Some big hits, some big plays and no brawls.

I hope we get you guys one more time this season...

PS - The call of the go ahead goal was the worst homer amateur hour call I may have ever heard on TV. I know that Gopher fan believes that all home town announcers behave in the same fashion, but Gopher announcers are the absolute worst. They were actually cheering out loud as if they were fanboys. Leave the radio homerism on the radio. Pathetic.

Very good hockey team : Absolutely horrible announcers

In an ironic twist of fate, the Badgers may have toughened up the Gophs for the post season. They did not look like a second division team. Looking forward to the NoDak / Wisco match up next weekend. One of you gets eliminated
