Minnesota hosts Wisconsin: March 2-3 - MacNaughton in the house

Re: Minnesota hosts Wisconsin: March 2-3 - MacNaughton in the house

That whole thing were the refs blew the whistle to let Rammage cry like a little girl for 3 minutes was very strange. Does Wisconsin do that during every game?

In basketball, yes. Never seen that in hockey.

In an ironic twist of fate, the Badgers may have toughened up the Gophs for the post season. They did not look like a second division team. Looking forward to the NoDak / Wisco match up next weekend. One of you gets eliminated

except they do not play...

Re: Minnesota hosts Wisconsin: March 2-3 - MacNaughton in the house

fyp. Like Scooby said, BADgers played really well all weekend. One question though - does Eaves bring Robbie back to teach his diving technique? There were at least two, maybe three interferences called on the Gophs tonight that were the most blatant of dives. And they kept on doing it, even after the refs finally figured it out and quit buying it. Ramage was hugely ***ed when Rau gave him a taste of his own medicine and drew an interference on him.

I apologize....to Rau. He did nothing like a dive on the Ramage penalty. It was as clear and obvious a penalty as was committed all weekend, could have been a cross check as easily as interference. I was on the opposite end of the arena and reacted as much to the shear volume of Ramage's whining after he was called as to anything. What the hell was he complaining about? He gave Rau a "Christian Brothers Necktie" as Woog commented.

Happy. There is history here. I saw a Friday game with St Cloud at Madison in which the identical hit occurred. It started a 5 on 5 fight on the ice which the badgers players won I might add. Ramage leveled a guy who had his head down at center ice carrying the puck. Elbow in, no contact to the head. He got the game misconduct. St Cloud got the 5 Min major and won the game on the PP. That was what was going on. Yes last nights was a good hit. The refs in this league don't call things consistently. Ramage was ejected because they said he had too much distance to measure his target. That's the rub. I have seen your boys and your coach do the same degree of whining in prior seasons. Good turn around year for Minny. Guess all the Minnesota fans calling for Lucia's head will be quiet for a while now. Don has weathered the storm. Until we meet again . This rivalry will continue for a long time. It's fun every year win or lose.

That was probably the best series my wife and I attended this year. Bucky dusted MN on Friday, and Bjugstad made all the difference on Sat.

Congrats Gopher fans

Bjugstad, and maybe a little due to the fact that the rest of the team actually showed up on Saturday.

Who do they cover? Is that the Nodak crew?

And San Tropez - Woog was there.

I watch a lot of Center Ice and often have to watch the away feed for Blackhawks games and have grown very tolerant of other teams' announcers, but tonight was like nails on a chalkboard.

If only you could watch a UMD game. The MN announcers look like they are cheering for the opposition in comparison. An opposing player's head has to be decapitated and laying on the ice before they'll admit the Bulldogs deserve a penalty, and if the opposition touches a bulldog, it should be a penalty.

The problem isn't Eaves and WI players. It is the refs. If the refs allow them to stall the game at a point where MN has just made a huge momentum shift and take away that momentum, who can blame Eaves for trying. The refs need to know when they are being played and say "I'm not listening. No penalty was committed. I am dropping the puck or giving a delay of game penalty. You choose."

I completely agree. I have no idea why Eaves was complaining but the fact of the matter is the game should have kept going, without delay. But then again, they are WCHA refs...

It was worse Friday night, there was a conference with Eaves seemingly after every whistle.

"The between the benches guy"? You don't know who Tom Chorske is?

Yeah, I've heard of him. ;) I forgot his name when I was posting.

Rammer needs to whine less, that was clearly a DUMB penalty and he cost his team.

thanks for the reply. I can't blame Wisconsin for trying, but why the refs stopped the game for 3 minutes, and let them was wrong.

Exactly. Refs allowed it and they don't have to.

So you are saying Eaves is a poor sport?

Re: Minnesota hosts Wisconsin: March 2-3 - MacNaughton in the house

College sports are suppose to be about sportsmanship. While the refs are to blame and Guentzel was flaming at them, still Eaves was a would never stop about out the other teams coach was delaying the game. Just because you might get away with it, doesn't mean you should do it. Other coaches around the league and the commissioner don't take kindly to those tactics. As for the hit, it was 100% clean. should and chest with the puck between his feet. It's pretty pethic on all the interference and hooking Wisconsin ran and they still got more Power Play opportunities then the gophers.

Well just because one can get away with something, doesn't mean one should do it. Wasn't saying he was a poor sport so much as the refs don't take charge, but I certainly would like to see college coaches not even try to have so much more influence over a game. Complain if there really is a bad call, but don't complain just to control the game.
