I agree. It wasn't just passing. It is like they stored up all their poor friday night play from the last three weeks when they played well on Friday and dumped it on last night's game. I can't figure out how you come in with a chance to wrap up the title with a win and put in that effort. (Although from what I heard of the UMD game on the radio, UMD was pretty much no-show through at least the 1st half of their game too.) Maybe they were to reliant on Bjugstad. In the first 2 periods, there was almost no one crshing the net, and the goalie gave up a few juicy rebounds with no Gopher in sight. A player would come down the wing, have the option of leaning into the D and powering to the net, and every time would peal back to look for a pass, that almost never resulted in a shot on net. I hope that changes tonight.
I don't pretend to be versed well enough in line-ups to be too critical of Lucia's choices, but thought maybe he'd put Haula on the first line to have a chance to step up and become a leader in Bjugstad's absence. (I realize this messes up more of the other lines.)
By the way Scoobs, haven't read through the posts to see what you wrote, but I return my 16.6%. Might change if they come out flying and bury WIS tonight, but for now, they don't deserve it. They need to take the title with a win tonight.
