Minnesota hosts Wisconsin: 11/29 & 11/30

Re: Minnesota hosts Wisconsin: 11/29 & 11/30

Time out?

TIME OUT!!??

Oh, DC...

I know that though you are talented and possess great spirit, in the grand scheme of things you are yet young in the ways of the Badger, and in turn, your exposure to the the insidious evil that pervades all gopherdom is still small in many ways.

But we must never call time out.

Even though it may come to pass that large tracts of the country may fall into the grip of the Gophers, and all the odious apparatus of the so called "State of Hockey", we shall not flag or fail, or indeed, "call time out."

We shall go on to the end.

We shall fight in Minneapolis, we shall fight on the river, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength and we shall defend our state, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the ice, we shall fight in the fields and in the arenas; we shall never call time out, we shall NEVER SURRENDER!

aaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd...Now Bruce Dickinson ropes down from the rafters!

"There is no team I hate more than the Gophers," McCabe said. My sentiments exactly!

No kidding. He made it look like there wasn't even a D man there and then beat one of the best goalies in the world with seemingly no effort.

In other words, the goalie should have had that pretty easily.

Hey solo, I actually get this reference! (Helps, of course, that I sort of understood my own to start with.)

Actually you were right the first time. When any normal guy skates straight up the ice and flips a little backhander toward the net that goes in, it's no big deal.

But when a gopher does it, it's amazing!

I was hoping you or Gurt would get that:) I think it was Maiden's Live After Death album that started w/the Churchill quote broadcast through the speakers

Trying to figure out what to do tomorrow between the end of the Blue Line Club luncheon (around 1:30) and the start of the game (4:00). Kind of pointless to drive home and not have much time at all before having to drive back. Ideas anyone?

If it were me, I'd hit up one of the local bars within walking distance of Mariucci.

Head over to the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul and take in the exhibit The Rise and Fall of Prohibition.

Yeah went right over my head and I've actually listened to that album a couple of times in the past few months...

Re: Minnesota hosts Wisconsin: 11/29 & 11/30

He is so clearly lacking in skill that the D man should have stopped him easily.

It's not a good look for McD to get beat in space by a plodding giant, but he was able to recover enough to keep his gap and force the lerch to the side of the net.

An NHL goalie has to make that save. McD did enough.

You guys have slipped if that's a highlight reel play in your eyes.

Re: Minnesota hosts Wisconsin: 11/29 & 11/30

For purely selfish reasons, I wish he was a Gopher this season.

But why? IMO he wasn't as good last year as the year before... And you'd think the guy had the skills and body to take over a game. Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see that happen a lot down the stretch. I'm not being facetious or just gopher poking here when I say that I don't know how the Goph's could be anything other than disappointed with a stretch run where they couldn't sweep anyone until Bemidji at the end... and had your hands full getting that done. On paper the Goph's looked like the best roster in college hockey but it just didn't come together down the stretch. I don't know why... Regardless, seems to me ultimately, you're all better off.

Also, I was curious about this discussion between gofer's of what to do on Gameday. I mean I thought that you all got together for a pretty regular thing on Fridays??

But I checked with some sources and now I understand... Obviously some Badgers snuck across the border last night and sabotaged the gofer pre-game ritual:
