Minnesota hosts UMass: 10/8-10/9

Re: Minnesota hosts UMass: 10/8-10/9

It's cheaper to have LaPanta do everything and have some rent-a-gopher player next to him doing color than to have Doug and the Rug. The bottom line clearly matters a lot to the network as their parent company is trying to milk all it can out of Dish Network and has yet to budge on the contract negotiations.

Good series, UMass. You guys just wouldn't quit.

MN's mistakes were mostly capitalized on, and kept taking it to the Gophers, especially in the 2nd of tonight's game. What looked like a blowout turned out to be a nailbiter.

Good luck on the season.

Re: Minnesota hosts UMass: 10/8-10/9

I give credit to a young UMass team, they played hard puck at the end and almost pulled it out. Gophers looked like last years crappy D in the 2nd and 3rd...couldn't clear, turnovers, bad passing, standing around. They better fix it for Deano and UNO next week or they lose. Congrats to Jay Barriball on a pure hat...all in one period.

Re: Minnesota hosts UMass: 10/8-10/9

I agree. UMass has some speed and never quit the whole weekend.

Nice sweep for the Gophers but let's shore up that D a little before WCHA play. Much better start to the season this year that should be a confidence builder for all the freshman.

Re: Minnesota hosts UMass: 10/8-10/9

Hey you guys remember last year we had a pretty hearty discussion about Doug Woog. I was on the side that he is a senile alcoholic and most of you guys were convinced he was the greatest color guy sports has ever seen. Well, as you probably noticed, he got demoted this season, and that just proves how right I was and how wrong most of you were. And that makes me happy. Happy to the point I felt the need to come here and brag about it. So, in closing, eat *****.

Huh?

Sorry but I scooped you.

:D

Oh, we must have been watching different games. I'm guessing you missed the 15 wide open net shots UMass fanned on in the series. :)

Both teams did that. :o

MN played rather lazily, and I'd say at least two UMass goals tonight alone resulted in that.
