Minnesota hosts UMass: 10/8-10/9

Re: Minnesota hosts UMass: 10/8-10/9

I can't either. Time to pull a hammy. :p
Yeah well.....

We are undefeated and we are playing the other undefeated team in the league so it should be a fun game. I will be able to wait until next week for the WCHA opener. Plus I will have text updates coming ffom Mariucci:D

Re: Minnesota hosts UMass: 10/8-10/9

Not as long as {PROVICED is part of HE.

I don't even know if UMass is the 10th best team in Massachusetts.

We haven't been kikced out of Hockey Rast yet. We're just irrelevant.

Re: Minnesota hosts UMass: 10/8-10/9

Knock it off people, I'm having a hard enough time waiting for 7:00 tonight and you are not helping at all.:D GOOOOO GOPHERS!!!!!

Re: Minnesota hosts UMass: 10/8-10/9

I am getting used to this whole having no expectations things. It is starting to be fun. Hopefully the Gophers don't do well this season and ruin this.

Sigh, back in '76 a buddy and I who had student season tickets could have taken a bus trip to Denver for the Frozen Four (not called that then), but our coed IM volleyball team was in the playoffs. Since we were half of the men on our roster we thought it'd be ****ty to go. We stuck around and played. We won the final game. The other team thought we were bad sports 'cause we did everything we could to sweep the set as quick as we could then bolted the gym. We rushed over to Valli Pizza in Dinkytown to watch the semi-final game. Shoulda gone to Denver to watch the Gophs win it all. :(

Not like a regular season non-conf. game though.

I hear ya. I told my brother I would be mad with whatever decision we made. We didn't want to bail on our team and we want to try to finish the undefeated season. Can't win on this one and can't be two places at once. Like I said, looking forward to watching the Gophers beat up (hopefully) on a different Maverick team than normal next week:) .

HEY DROP THE PUCK!!!! HEY DROP THE PUCK!!!!! HEY DROP THE PUCK!!!!! Gophers Sweep 6-2 and 5-0 Kangas KOOL-AID is soooooooo yummy :p 58 mins to go........

Re: Minnesota hosts UMass: 10/8-10/9

WOW! UMass is terrible. I've seen about 5 opportunities they've had with WIDE OPEN nets and couldn't bury the puck. It's kind of hard to watch this game. That said, the Gophers are taking advantage of it nicely.

Sounds like attendance was counted on LaPanta's hands and toes, he got to threev before the ticket oFfice started handing out free tix

Re: Minnesota hosts UMass: 10/8-10/9

Good win.

A couple things:

1. Kangas Khan. Two goals he had zero shot at and another was on a breakaway.

2. MN better start hitting the opposing player(s) that are just hanging around the net. And then hit them harder. And then again, harder.

3. This team could go back to the freewheelers that made MN a powerhouse. The skill is there, and the heart seems to have returned.

Re: Minnesota hosts UMass: 10/8-10/9

Listening to LaPanta is going to make for a long season. Here's hoping the product on the ice can overcome him. I like Tom Chorske, but he was brutal tonight as well.

Liked some of the things I saw from some of the young guys. Still issues in the defensive zone that need to be addressed, but I was pleasantly surprised by how the offense looked.

Of course, I'd like to see more of Bjugstad than just 4 minutes of game time.

Good win much better start to the season this year, stay out of the box and don't take a 5 min major tomorrow night and the brooms will come out.

What happened to Pat White tonight? Riding the pine or not dressing?

I think they said that UMass had 13+ minutes of PP time. We can't have that again.

Patrick didn't dress tonight, which honestly caught me a bit by surprise. Message being sent? I don't think he's hurt.

Re: Minnesota hosts UMass: 10/8-10/9

I give UMass credit for showing some awesome speed tonight and making this game a lot closer than expected. Nice to see the Gopher PP get off to a good start compared to last season. Even the crowd got off their hands and made some real noise for a change.

Apparently Larry Olimb and Rob McClanahan will be joining LaPanta at some point too, so it could get better.;)

Re: Minnesota hosts UMass: 10/8-10/9

1.) I thought the offense looked rock solid.

2.) The goaltending did well.

3.) The Gophers defensive lapse from time to time needs to improve.

Overall I thought they looked all right.

Re: Minnesota hosts UMass: 10/8-10/9

Not a bad start.
Well, I take it back, because the first 3 minutes belonged solely to UMass. But after that, not a bad start.
I got the two things I asked for when walking into the building tonight...a win and 4 goals.
There were some mistakes defensively, but I'd much prefer defensive troubles than offensive troubles at this point in the season. Defensive mistakes are much more easily corrected than lack of offensive punch.

Some random thoughts on tonight -

- It was nice seeing Holl take the initiative and jump down in the zone on his GWG.

- I would have liked to have gotten more of a look at Bjugstad than 2 shifts.

- Let's see if this Gopher team can finish off the sweep tomorrow; something they struggled with last year.

- Much credit to UMass for repeatedly battling back tonight. Hopefully the Gopher's can crush their spirit early on tomorrow.
