Minnesota hosts Ohio State: 2-6 & 2-7

Re: Minnesota hosts Ohio State: 2-6 & 2-7

I sure did have that reaction after that football game

That was probably Glen Mason's proudest moment as the Minnesota Head Coach. He did have some quality bowl wins with the Gophers: Oregon, Alabama, Arkansas. Nice list, actually. But given his close ties to OSU, I'm guessing the game you mention is his favorite.

I was at that game:D:D:D:D

Wasn't it the Ice Breaker back in like 2007? Maybe I'm remembering wrong.

Re: Minnesota hosts Ohio State: 2-6 & 2-7

When was the other time these teams played at the X aside from last year at the B1G tourney?

Close. October 12, 2002.

Not sure if it was called "the Ice Breaker" back then. I want to say it was a "Hall of Fame" game. Similar idea, though. A marquee non-conference game to open the season.

And yeah, I was at that game too. Sadly my sports travel is way down these days...:o

It was the Hall of fame game and i belive Minnesota took the Buckeyes to the shed 7-2 that night.

Yup; my Media Guide confirms that score. The Gophers raced to a big lead that night and never looked back. It was fun to see the Buckeyes play at the X, but that was about it. In fairness, those Gophers were the crème de la crème. Reigning National Champs that successfully defended their title.

I remember listening to that game

So have both Ohio State fans already given up on this team completely, hence the lack of posts?

Oh sure. Now we can't get them to shut up. At least they are waxing poetic about some glory years of the Gophers rather than the glory hole the Gophers have dug themselves into...:o

Was in a suite with my son and a bunch of GPLers for that game, fun time. May have been my son's first tailgating experience. :)

GP hurt his knee in that game and the Gophers didn't really seem to find their stride until he came back, shortly after Christmas IIRC.

Anthony Greco is prom queen fast. It's pretty impressive.

Re: Minnesota hosts Ohio State: 2-6 & 2-7

Congrats on your win tonight. As i said this team just isnt very good and takes way to many stupid penalties and they almost always end up in the net.

Re: Minnesota hosts Ohio State: 2-6 & 2-7

Reports of the Gophers' demise seem to be a little premature. That power play looks positively healthy.

Does your team know how to shoot? I told you to shoot the puck. They had 23 shots they got 2 goals. That's about right. Now tonight shoot 40 times. You'll get 4 goals and win.

Point taken. I saw the telecast of the Gopher win in Madison, and let's just say the sieve cheer was appropriate for once. But Wilcox looked much better last night. Maybe your team is finally righting the ship, keeper and all.

The story of the tortoise and the hare doesn't usually end well for the hare. But maybe this year the hare goes on a nice run the rest of the way. Unlike the fairy tale, there's a conference tournament autobid available. It's certainly not too late.

As for the Buckeyes, sometimes it feels like we're just a couple of players away. But if those two players are Gedig and Dzingel, those are pretty big skates to fill. Some have posted about a lack of on-ice leadership. Likely those two thoughts have a connection. So maybe it's going to take a while to get back to where we were last year. Maybe a 110% effort over the offseason is part the package.

Regardless, those of us who follow OSU Hockey through thick and thin will be there. There are more than 2 or 3 of us. But again, point taken.

Have you ever enjoyed a win? doubtful

Must be a bit.

What I'm supposed to be excited about a win over THE Ohio State at home? This season while OSU is pretty pedestrian? No, I don't think so. What happened last night is what's supposed to happen. Nothing more, nothing less.
