I wish i could believe that but this team hasnt shown any life on the road all year long and the Gophers are pretty ****ed off im sure.

Again, we've been saying this for several weeks now...... LOL!

In a nutshell...we showed some life, but based on the circumstances it really doesn't mean anything.

Right. And I had just a small ray of somewhat positivity. Then I read all what Scooby et al posted over on GPL(and some here) and I realized I was wrong. We are effed.

Then don't listen to the negative nancy's, there are plenty of them that's for sure. Whatever floats their (your) boat though.

Well, misery loves company.

With the probable exception of Penn State, it seems that everyone in the league has underachieved this year. Although Michigan has done well in conference play, their non-conference record is ordinary. No need to repeat the comments on the struggles in Minneapolis and Columbus. Of course the Badgers are at a historic low point. And so on.

My question is this. Is the realignment partly to blame? Having only six teams in the league has created an extended stretch of non-conference play at the front end of the schedule. It's almost as if the BT is trying impose a hoops format on us, with a couple of months of cupcake games before the "real" season starts. Trouble is, the teams from the NCHC & nWCHA aren't cupcakes. Leave the 'A' Game in the locker room? You'll probably pay the price.

Or, maybe not. It could be that this is just a random down year for the conference, nothing more. But I can't help but wonder if there isn't a systematic explanation for the poor results last Fall.

Hello all. Believe it or not we do exist! Buckeye hockey fans. Season ticket holder here. Klbaum summed up our season so far pretty well.

Myself, along with others are working hard to build our fanbase. We started a fan group this year, check out http://www.thescarletliners.org/

Took a bus of 40 up to East Lansing a few weekends ago, when Cbus was abuzz for the NHL ASG.

Our founder will actually be at both games this weekend! Name is Don and will be in Sec 20 in white camo buckeye jersey with Marines on the back. Feel free to say hello

Hey, maybe this season will be like football for the big ten... everyone says it's a down year but come post season we clean up... the possibly 2 big ten teams play each other for the title with MN bringing home #6.

This is going to be tough to get even a point this weekend i think. Minnesota is still IMO the 2nd best team in this league and Ohio state has never won at Mariucci.

The Buckeye win came on 12/28/98 at the Mariucci Classic. I was there that night; probably the main reason I noticed the omission. Other venues:

Don't know for Williams Arena or the OSU Ice Rink. During the 1980's the hockey side of Williams Arena was renamed Mariucci Arena. But I don't think the Buckeyes played there during the name change years. Anyhow, the above numbers are based on the facilities that currently exist.

I was too and after the game I remember thinking, "We lost to OHIO STATE???" And you may have had the same reaction two years later when the Gophers somehow managed to beat your Buckeyes in football...

And this past season we came within 7 points, which was a helluva lot better than 59!
But that's water over the dam. Now we're more interested in restoring our dominance in hockey which, as it turns out, is anything but a given.

From the start of the season i havent liked this Ohio state team. I am hoping things turn around and getting some points this weekend would be a start but im not to hopeful like i said the gophers have to be a little ****ed off

That was probably Glen Mason's proudest moment as the Minnesota Head Coach. He did have some quality bowl wins with the Gophers: Oregon, Alabama, Arkansas. Nice list, actually. But given his close ties to OSU, I'm guessing the game you mention is his favorite.

And yeah, I attended that day too.
