Minnesota hosts Ohio State: 1/17 & 1/18

Re: Minnesota hosts Ohio State: 1/17 & 1/18

Weekend preview from Gophersports

http://www.gophersports.com/sports/m-hockey/spec-rel/011514aaa.html

The No. 1 University of Minnesota men’s hockey team hosts the 2014 Hockey City Classic on Friday at TCF Bank Stadium. The outdoor double-header starts at 4:30 p.m. with the No. 1 Gopher women’s hockey team taking on Minnesota State followed by the Minnesota men against Ohio State at 8:10 p.m. The men’s contest will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network, BTN2Go.com and 1500 ESPN.

Against Ohio State

Minnesota is 12-1-0 all-time against its new Big Ten Conference rival including a streak of five-straight wins against the Buckeyes. No current Gopher has taken the ice against Ohio State with the two programs last meeting on Oct. 26, 2007 in a 2-1 win for the Gophers.

Re: Minnesota hosts Ohio State: 1/17 & 1/18

Have listed 3 tickets for sale on GPL if anyone's interested, a pair and a great single. Brother has the flu, and my date (daughter) needs to study for her CPA exam on Saturday. I need to have a talk with her about priorities...;)

Re: Minnesota hosts Ohio State: 1/17 & 1/18

You call this cold weather? :D
Some PP is probably needed here. Well, what the Hell is this guy talking about, you're probably thinking... And you wanna know what? You're right. I bumped into this forum and learned that I don't really know much on the topic.
Sorry guys, I guess I better learn more...

Tell your daughter she knew the exam date a while ago so she should have started studying sooner! ;) I considered yours as a way to upgrade as mine kinda suck. Fortunately a rep offered me a pair of tickets that are slightly better than my season tickets are. Now trying to unload my seats.

It's game day and I only have (approximately) 4.5 hours of work left!!:D

I'm in Boston on business, but will be flying into Minneapolis this afternoon. Going to be the longest three hour flight of my life as I am so excited fort his game. I've waited a long time to see the Gophers play outdoors in Minnesota. Special day.

You have a terrible attitude. Excited for a Gopher hockey game?! Aren't you/we supposed to be complaining about ice conditions, sightlines, cold temps, etc?:p;)

Safe travels, get here in one piece so you can enjoy some outdoor hockey!:)

Re: Minnesota hosts Ohio State: 1/17 & 1/18

I'm looking forward to going Friday night.
Looking forward to the telecast! Hope everyone in attendance has fun. Well, not too much fun.;) But we hosted one of these events at Progressive Field (Cleveland Indians home) and it is a cool thing to be a part of.

I have found, even in tennis shoes, getting those foot warmer inserts are well worth it. Otherwise, like others said....layers, layers, layers.
The foot warmer inserts work surprisingly well. They should be available at Target, among other places. Although if you do go to Target, pay in cash.:o

Don't feel bad, many Buckeyes root for Michigan's teams when they're not playing us, myself for one.

With all due respect to Hockeybuckeye, this is a minority view. A large majority of the Football fanbase would dissent. It's a bit more viable for Hockey, given the greater emphasis on in-state rivalries on both sides of the border. But with the advent of B1G Hockey, even that factor is going to fade.

Personally, I'll quietly root for the Wolverines when they play Eastern teams. But IMO, even that stance puts me out on a limb here in Columbus.

I will confess I'm not entirely biased towards Michigan as some OSU fans are but I RESPECT our opponents, not hate them like too many do. I see no reason not to root for other certain teams in our conference as long as it's not in conflict with our team's goals. We're all fans of the sports and should remember that commonality.

Re: Minnesota hosts Ohio State: 1/17 & 1/18

I'm pretty excited, so excited that I started pre-gaming last night for my friend's 30th birthday.

Work is miserable today.

Once 3:30 hits, off to campus to start the festivities! Haven't decided if we're tailgating or just going to head over to Dinkytown or something beforehand. Anyone have any good leads?

Tailgating lots are all sold out or else I'd be doing that. I think we're going to try to park close to the bars in Dinky. That way we can leave our warm clothes in the truck and go grab them quick before we head to the game.

Blarney has a shuttle bus. May want to ask them when it will run and see if works for your schedule.

Found a college student who will use my tickets since the rep gave me (slightly) better seats. Glad that works out.

I'm fine with everything in this reply. But surely you're not questioning the accuracy of my description?

Yeah, just thought about that when Bladepuller posted that on GPL. My brother is on his way back from Mille Lacs right now and then we will figure out our timining from there. Thanks for the suggestion!

Luckily I have a parking spot already purcased, so maybe we just bring some hoskies there and hang out.
