I wouldn't have a problem with then all playing up, but there are many that actually do belong in class A.

Just the same there are big schools like novas that don't belong either. It's not like they have to play a big boys regular season schedule.

People also seem to forget that the private school dominance is relatively recent.

STA and Breck are the only two that I think should without any doubts.
If Hermantown continues to destroy they should probably think about it sometime in the future. We'll see.

Give Totino credit, though, for opting-up in football starting next year (they've won 5 AAAA state titles since 2004)....

Yeah, I think Hermantown would consider it, they're usually good enough. Hell, they tied Eden Prairie this year.

Just looking up participation in the MSHSL record book, and Totino isn't bad at al ('93, '95, '02 and '05).
For the record:
Breck is '94, '96, '97, '00, '04, '09, '10, '11
Blake is '95, '99, '06, '07, '08
Hermantown is '94, '98, '99, '01, '06, '07, '10, '11
STA is '99, '05, '06, '07, '08, '11
Lourdes is '01, '02, '03, '09, '10, '11

Nope - they're a true AAAA (1078 is their "official" enrollment - double actual since it's all boys).

My two sources are the "MSHSL Yearbook & Recordbook" which the MSHSL prints every year, and I get sent as a Sports Director of a radio station that broadcasts HS sports (and is available for order on this page - scroll down to "Publications"), and the MSHSL website, which provides enrollments and competitive section assignment info.
