Watching the Michigan/OSU game on BTN+. Very entertaining. Well the game is fine...but the announcers are awesome. Every time it goes to commercial...the feed stays on. So you get to hear about how announcing crew is absolutely starving and just how bad OSU's power play is. :)

Edit: He just got hot dogs.

I have to comment on the ESPNU crew for the Sat. Penn State/MN game which included former BADger and Hobey Baker recipient, Blake Geoffrion. Apparently he suffered a career ending injury and has now pursued sports broadcasting with ESPN. He was ok and added a bit of college hockey perspective. But when introduced, I had to laugh when John Buccigross said he "won the Hobey Baker at Minnesota". Epic faux pas, but Blake ignored it or just refused to believe what he had just heard.

They were eating Girl Scout mints all game.

Note:

Big game for the Gophers PWR tonight in the Beanpot at TD Garden in Boston. If BC beats Harvard it looks like the Gophers pick up a COp and get a free pass from #11 to #10 in the PWR.

I think that would qualify as a major gaffe as I'm sure due to the make up of the audience, well over half would have caught that one.

In the first 5 seconds of the ESPN broadcast they showed out-dated standings for the Big Ten and introduced Kyle Rau as a Calgary Flames draft pick.

The broadcast was absolutely horrible. I watched from the mid-first on with it on mute and just listened to Wally and Frank.

Adam Wilcox with a perfect "reacting butterfly" style. Awesome.

Probably when he strained his knee....

Very good sign that Wilcox was on the bench tonight, indicating that his injury can't be too serious. Has anyone heard anything further as to his status?

I really felt sorry for Lehr having such a poor start tonight. I'm sure nerves came into play - it sure looked like that was the case. He did get better as the game went on, gaining more confidence as the team also buttoned down and played better in front of him. If he does start again tomorrow night I'm sure he'll look more composed and hopefully do a better job controlling the puck around the cage than he did this evening.

I felt bad for Lehr too. All the mocking cheers when he made saves after three out of the first four going in....I was disappointed in the fans on that one. I'll leave it at that.

Re: Minnesota Gophers Season Thread: 2014-2015

He only got better because we played in the MSU zone most of the night after those first 3 goals. He still looked lost and very timid to me even in the 3rd. It's not like MSU had tons of grade A scoring chances, if they did they would have scored.

Let's hope Wilcox plays tonight, if so I like our chances.

Two other games to watch tonight. UMD/UNO and BC/ND (the latter is televised). With a MN win, we could leapfrog BC and UNO.

Strike that. BC is an easy flip...UNO not.

With another win over powerhouse Sparty you guys could easily be #2 by Monday in the pwr, big things going on in the AHA West!

If you mean a couple of division 3 schools playing on channel 763...I don't think I'd call that 'big'.

Re: Minnesota Gophers Season Thread: 2014-2015

Worst game of the year for the team. You could say the U18 game was worse...but we weren't obscenely outshot. Puts us squarely back on the bubble and fair chance that this costs a B1G banner.

Re: Minnesota Gophers Season Thread: 2014-2015

They really didn't give a **** tonight. Silly me for thinking they had some heart after last night. This year's team isn't going to fool me again.

Re: Minnesota Gophers Season Thread: 2014-2015

SO disappointing. I just couldn't believe how many bad plays they were making all game, almost like they were saving them up over the past month. The way they were mishandling the puck, giving it up voluntarily all too often, making simple passes not on the tape but in the skates, allowing Sparty to keep most of their shots from the side boards or from the point, and half-fanning on many of their few good opportunities...it was hard to watch, depressing really. As bad as they were, Wilcox gave them a chance to still get back in it in the latter minutes. But the way they were playing you kind of knew it wasn't going to happen, totally unlike the night before when they were flying and making great plays all over the ice. Consistency is definitely not a strength of this team.
