Watched Sioux City Musketeers vs. Omaha Lancers last Sat. eve. The systems they run in the USHL (at least with these two teams) are clearly different than what Lucia and MG are running. Omaha has a couple upcoming Gopher recruits: McManus and Fallstrom, but unfortunately Ryan Zuhlsdorf who is the captain for the Muskies this season did not play. A friend of mine who is the Exec. VP for the Muskies told me he suffered a severe concussion on a cheap hit playing against Swiss teams in Switzerland this summer. His return is uncertain.
Good news for Gopher fans on Zuhlsdorf - In the lineup for today's pre-season game against Cedar Rapids. Good news for Musketeer fans, too, as Zuhlsdorf played a ton of minutes last year for us in all situations, and is one of our few returning players. Good kid, hard worker.
That is great news. Thanks for the update. I've heard good reports on him as well, haven't seen him yet though. Are you in South Sioux?
Yes, or as we call it, Gateway to Nebraska!
Haha...Was at Rosies the other night after the game...nice. Check your message.
Hockey East coaches: 1. Boston College (7 first-place votes) 115 points; 2. Boston University (3) 107; 3. Providence (2) 95; 4. UMass-Lowell 92; 5. Northeastern 76; 5. New Hampshire 74; 7. Notre Dame 72; 8. Vermont 57; 9. Connecticut 34; 10. Maine 29; 11. Merrimack 27; 12. Massachusetts 14.
UVM lacks the individual star power flaunted by the top teams but has a corps of solid two-way players with the possibility of balanced scoring. The most serious questions revolving around the Catamounts are whether junior Mike Santaguida can display the consistency and excellence necessary as the solo No. 1 goaltender after three years of splitting time with Hoffman and if UVM can replace the offensive and defensive prowess of Paliotta plus Nick Luukko’s many minutes at defense.
Yeah. The Gophers often look kinda rough their first game usually against softer Canadian teams and will include a fair amount of youth...which will probably get played as the following weekend is UMD.
On the other hand, VT has 7 of its top 10 back from that strong team last year...and unlike the Gophers, will already have played. The only way MN should look past this to UMD is if Bernie suits up.
Guess is that Kloos is the only first team preseason All Big Ten player. Michigan won't get em all, but they've got Motte, Compher, and Werenski all as potential.
If there was a second team, I think you would see Fasching and possibly Brodzinski.

No big predictions there.
In returning players scoring, we have David Goodwin (PSU) and...a couple of MI players and Kloos and Fasching within four points. Kloos has as good of a chance to increase scoring as anyone.
I don't see Brodzinski as a stretch for second team either as he'll inherit the QB position which at MN usually means a league leading scoring D...we'll see.
Really? "My B1G picks"Some might place Sparty at 2nd considering Hildebrand (SR) will most likely be the top goalie in the B1G and they have the smallest FR class which means they return most of their scoring prowess with a very balanced offensive and physical attack. They split with Mich. and went 1-2-1 against the Gophers.
Goodwin benefited last season by playing with Bailey and Holstrom for the bulk of his sophomore campaign, which elevated his ceiling with a 34-point run in 2014-15. Now that they're gone he'll most likely be paired with senior Eric Scheid...totally different storyline.
Not saying Kloos doesn't have a chance, but he's not a multifaceted player like Kyle Rau was either. It depends on who his linemates are...Fasching and ? (hopefully not Cammarata).
Brodzinski obviously can't fill Reilly's skates, so I don't think MG will put high expectations on him at QB. I think we'll see Bischoff, a more stable D as more of a QB this season and run O systems with a view to a more balanced scoring attack than last season.
Is there a TV broadcast schedule out yet? When is first televised game?
