Re: Minnesota Gophers 2018-2019

I thought the Gophs were awful for the first three minutes of that period (not sure who 24 was passing to on the 4-on-4), but we were mostly okay after that. We do tend to be very inefficient, where we'll make 80% of a good play, and then miss the shot by 3 feet or be unable to make a 10-foot pass to a teammate when not pressured. I have to keep reminding myself how bad I'd look if I was out there.

Re: Minnesota Gophers 2018-2019

Vermont comes out strong in the tihrd, and Gorecki takes advantage of a bad shift by Patti Marshall to make it 4-2 and go on the man advantage.

Re: Minnesota Gophers 2018-2019

Pannek gets that goal back on a really nice shift. It almost seems like Williamson is skating with Pannek and S. Potomak, as I've seen them together a few times.

Re: Minnesota Gophers 2018-2019

For some reason, Skaja's been moved down to the fourth line, and Katie Robinson is one of her wingers. That's . . . odd.

I don't think 26 is playing. Robinson is playing a wing instead.

Dan said "Getting Katie more shifts" but I didn't know what he meant I thought maybe Skaja but must have been Robinson. Not sure why though

Sarah P didn't play in the third that I remember. At the very end, it didn't seem like Boreen was playing either. The Wente and Heise lines seemed to be intact, but the other two lines were just a mix of whoever was left plus Robinson.

I noticed Sarah P wasn't out there in the 3rd period as well and not in the post game presentation.

My wife just informed me that both Sarah and Abigail are in civilian clothes in the championship team photo taken on the ice. She also said I'll need a magnifying glass if I want to see the trophy in the photo.

GG Gophers. That roster is absolutely terrifying.

No question they have the potential to be very formidable. A lot of players capable of putting the puck in the net and as scary as it may sound I think they are capable of playing much better. The Schamwow line had a pretty quiet weekend considering the Gophers scored 14 goals.

This article was linked to on GPL by poster Lancaster...Good stuff on #24.

Also noted by outofstateoutofmind on GPL:

"A quarter of the players invited to the USA Hockey Winter Training Camp (i.e., finalists for the World Championship in the spring) are Gophers: Marvin, Bozek, Kessel, Brandt, Stecklein, Cameranesi, Pannek, Brown, Zumwinkle, Heise, Wethington."

With Lancaster then posting the link to the USA camp ROSTER: https://teamusa.usahockey.com/page/show/4624336-2018-roster

Re: Minnesota Gophers 2018-2019

Gophers up 2-1 after a period. I missed all of the Minnesota scoring, as gophersports.com links to the wrong place for the video (Stretch Internet, which is only for those outside the U.S.), so I only got video going with about two minutes left in the period, at which point, Yale had no shots. Then the Gophers got really lackadaisical on the power play and allowed a Yale shortie.

The power play is just absurdly bad to this point of the season.

Re: Minnesota Gophers 2018-2019

And then Brown scores kind of out of nowhere on the continuation of the power play at the start of the second. Heise set a nice screen, but it was a simple wrist shot from the blue line.

Re: Minnesota Gophers 2018-2019

Zumwinkle scores on Minnesota's second power play, so I should start calling more things "absurdly bad".

Re: Minnesota Gophers 2018-2019

Keller is getting a lot of ice time tonight, and got an assist on Zumwinkle's third. And Scobee is back in the lineup tonight.
