Re: Minnesota Gophers 2012-2013 Part II: Mmmm, Iron City Beer!
That sounds correct, yes. I wasn't so much trying to get that breakdown tracked as I was counting out who the games were against. The big confusion that I had was that I didn't realize that the Gophers were playing 8 games against the MN teams. I had thought that it was going to be 8 without the MN cup, but 4 with the MN cup, so when I was figuring out the schedule for next year, I kept coming up 4 games short.
I don't have the link handy, but from the article out of Duluth that was posted a while ago, it looks like 24th/25th of January, which is less than a week later than Hockey Day in Minnesota was this year, so I hope that works out (it would require a Wild road game, but that's happened before). Pairings the first year are MN/SCSU and MSUM/UMD for day 1.
Yes. At some point in the 4 year rotation, UMD will not be in the cup tourney, so MN will be heading up to Duluth to play. Basically, whatever team isn't at the X gets MN for a home series, and the two teams that don't play MN on Day 1 play a weekend at MN that year.
Also, before the show last night, I was talking with Wally, and the ruling on the non-goal by Haula Friday night was that Haula ran into the net, causing it to come off the moorings. It looked to me like he was pushed in, but if they ruled that it was Haula's fault the net came off, not a defenders, then the no-goal was the right call with the new rule this year. I have to admit, I find this much easier to stomach (disagreeing on the judgement call as to who was at fault for knocking the net off) than I was when it sounded like they ruled that just because the net was off, it was a no-goal (like the old rule). I disagree with referees/umpires/etc on judgement calls all the time... but that's why they're "judgement calls"
Thanks. I thought we already know next year will be BC coming to Mariucci and us going to ND? If so, MN cup counts as home games?

Will the MN cup be in January?

This also means at some point in the future the Gophers will still end up making trip(s) to Duluth, correct?
