What impact does the fan voting have again? Hopefully zero, but I feel like it might determine top 10 or so? I'll take any of the big three pieces of hardware over a Hobey winner any day. We're having a good season, so we don't have to worry about voting in a poll that shouldn't matter.

Lou Nanne said it himself during Sioux series weekend. He also said John Mariucci thought UND was the biggest game of the year.

I remember hating Northern when I was a kid in the early 90's. Doesn't mean there was a great rivalry.

I doubt Mariucci would say that. UND wasn't nearly the program it is now when Mariucci coached. And I'm sorry, UW was a far bigger rival in the 70's. I'd even go as far as saying Tech was a bigger rival. We met them in 3 straight NCAA title games.

I am pretty sure whoever responded is not a hockey fan. They might be a Gopher fan in general, but in Hockey UND is with out a doubt the biggest rivalry.

I think you guys are comparing apples and oranges. If the discussion is the 70's, it's definitely Wisconsin. Mariucci's time was before that, and well before my time as well, so maybe it was UND if you go back to the 50's and even 60's. But if you're talking 70's, it was those stinkin' Badgers. And Tech was a distant 2nd, if only due to geography and their fans did not travel nearly as well as Wisconsin's.
