Give me a break. I'm as disappointed as anyone with the performance tonight, but it was the first game. I'm not ready to give up on the team after the first night. If at the end of the year the kinds of comments are being made that have been made tonight, I won't argue; but to start spouting this crap off after 1 contest is absurd, and wreaks of the same lack of pride that the team is being criticized for.

Wow that was an embarrassing performance by the Golder Gophers tonight. Your goalie sucks, your captain is a joke, and I don't think I have ever seen a team care less about a game.

So much talk about how they worked so hard all summer in the weight room, conditioning, etc.
So much talent, so little heart. Does it start with the coach? Even Lucia appears to be at a loss with this group.
Can a team have too much talent and no one who wants to carry the team? Way too many players playing like they think they are ready for the next level but if they keep it up, they will have nice ECHL careers.
It is really too bad...

They had an entire off season to get ready for a season. While I would have loved to see the Gophers get some retribution for the last time they were in Grand Forks by sweeping the Sioux, the season does not revolve around UND. F * CK UND. If they don't learn from tonight's performance...if it doesn't affect them....then you are right. But you can't make that determination from a single game.

Good Grief. Gophers were too slow. Should try skating more.
Lucia wanted Gophers to be more physical but they don't need to play like UAA or Tech. Or do they?

Scooby, you're not a fool you're just a fan that loves his team.
But if you make every game a life-and-death thing, you're going to have problems. You'll be dead a lot.

I see both sides to the argument. They can say yeah it was our 1st game of the year we are going to be rusty and passes are not going to be very crisp. But on the other hand when you are playing one of your top rivals if not the top rival they should at least give some effort and I saw none after the 1st goal scored against us.
If they turn it around tonight and move there feet and give a solid effort they could come away with 2pts then all will be forgiven. (Glass half full view.)

Hate to say it but I sat next to a super nice goofer fan and his father last night at the game... got to talk some good hockey and explain a few things to him about the Ralph since it was his first time there... he was unlike the *** goofer fan that was big-talking in the entrance of the Ralph before the game. I wish I would had seen him afterwords.... anyways just wanted to say thanks for the good talks to the nice gentleman and father who had to deal with a lot of Sioux cheering. I almost felt bad they didn't get to cheer a goal.....almost.

I think I remember seeing an article online about how the Gopher players stayerd on campus and worked out - very hard, I think it said, and skated together - very seriously, I think it said, and broke in the vaunted freshmen and built team chemistry - very tight, I think it said.
And then they don'y even compete with North Dakota in the very first game of the regular (remember the optimistic pasting of the Canadian team) season.
Let's just forget and ignore all the BS and big summer talk and all the hype - this is a Frozen Four team, I think I read, and just let the players show their stuff on the ice.
The only reasons I understood for why this team is rated in the Top 10 is because Leddy and Budish are amazing, Schroeder and that they are the UMTC. I can accept Schroeder, but is it not amazing how quickly the players themselves, with their gutless, heartless effort in North Dakota, shut themselves up!
