Re: Minnesota Golden Gopher Women's Hockey 2013-14 Season

Since it is a Gopher women's hockey thread and most of the failures submitted are men's team failures, it probably does make sense that it is considered a failure that Minnesota needed overtime to beat BC last year. Although, it might have been better to submit an actual BC win over Minnesota in the Women's Frozen Four which was in 2011 I believe.

You can tell this is written for Eagles' fans, who have trouble with the concept of yesterday, let alone the idea of "history". I have cats with better long term memory than most BC alumni, so it's appropriate that there's exactly one item from prior to 2006. Where's Randy Skarda hitting the pipe in overtime? Or losing the 1988 semifinal? Or the entire Doc Romnes era?

Re: Minnesota Golden Gopher Women's Hockey 2013-14 Season

What actually happened on the I-35 bridge was a slide rule error; they miscalculated the load capacity by a factor of 10.

All kidding aside this was a tragic event. After your slide rule comment, and being an engineer, got curious and decided to look up the final report. Fascinating reading, as there are multiple factors involved. The most interesting part was a design flaw from 45 years earlier never caught by any reviews/inspections. Despite this flaw there was still enough engineering margin to withstand the flaw for 40 plus years, until there was construction and added load/stress on the bridge as a result. Little comfort for the families of the 13 people who lost their lives.

Oh my God, I have no idea how we missed that one... What a missed opportunity...

The ONLY time the BC women's team has prevailed over Minnesota in recorded history. And lest we forget the Gophers did end up winning your No. 7 "great moment" game, the only one on your list having anything to do with women's hockey.

The year is right, but it was in the quarters. For the purpose of this piece, however, it may just as well be the championship game. By a 4-1 score. In triple overtime.

A lot of people had a brush with that disaster. For example, my wife drove over the bridge 15 minutes before the collapse.

Please. This is just an attempt by the mainstream AKA LAMESTREAM media to push forward another pro-Obama agenda with a clearly altered video showing "Minnesota" "winning."

I think you should shut down the BC hockey program in protest.

Re: Minnesota Golden Gopher Women's Hockey 2013-14 Season

I'm and engineer, and the "last" we do is make an educated guess.

(Maybe that is what they did in your neck of the woods for the I-35 bridge, hence your opinion :D )

oh, you're one of THOSE guys, a water walker

I too am an engineer, we are paid to make EDUCATED guesses

"I've found Gopher fans to be notoriously easy to wind up. "
apparently the author of the article has never observed TTT

#6: North Stars Move to Dallas Because Not Enough People in Minnesota Care About Hockey.
actually the No Stars moved to Dallas because the owner got pizzed he was the subject of a sexual harrasment suit. The No Stars were drawing good crowds, the owner was just being a jerk, the people in the state said good riddance to him and began working on securing another team (ironically another MN No Stars)

apparently BC fans must have already thrown in the towel on this season, hence the article
