Like Jalosuo, she can also move to the circle on the weak side and be available for a one-timer.
It is also the role that then freshman Bobbi Ross played on the 2005 Championship team on the power play with Darwitz, Wendell, Stevens and Wahl.

From the men's forum:

"Chris Werle, Gophers senior associate athletic director, said as of Wednesday morning 40,000 tickets had been sold for the outdoor Hockey City Classic at TCF Bank Stadium. The doubleheader, featuring the Gophers men’s and women’s teams, will be played the evening of Friday, January 17. If severe weather causes postponement, the classic will be rescheduled for Sunday, January 19."

But I wonder how many will show up in time to catch all (or even most) of the Gophers-Mavericks women's game which will start at 4:30? Weather permitting, I know I will! :)

I was thinking that the women's game is against Minnesota State Mankato and the men's game is against Ohio State but I could be wrong.

Good catch, I've made the correction to my post above.

That's handy, given the women already have a game on January 19. A home-and-home double header!

As for a temps around freezing, when's the last time our temp has been anywhere near freezing? Although the forecast I'm seeing says the high gets close on Monday/Tuesday next week. It must mean we'll get a foot of snow to balance it out. :(

Could that mean that they expect the women to play that Friday, even if the weather is judged to be too "extreme" for the men to play?

Two links...

First, a comparison of how the Gophers have started the season over the years: http://www.gophersports.com/blog/2013/12/gophers-off-to-second-best-start-ever.html
Looking at those years where the first-half record was noticeably better than that of the second half underscores the need to have everyone available…
1997-98: 9-4-1 start, 21-7-3 finish
1998-99: 11-1-1 start, 29-4-3 finish
1999-00: 12-5-0 start, 32-6-1 finish, national champions
2000-01: 11-4-1 start, 23-9-2 finish
2001-02: 12-2-3 start, 28-4-6 finish
2002-03: 15-2-1 start, 27-8-1 finish Wendell injured for much of second half
2003-04: 13-0-1 start, 30-4-21 finish, national champions Darwitz injured and Wall ineligible for 3 of the losses
2004-05: 15-1-2 start, 36-2-2 finish, national champions
2005-06: 12-5-1 start, 29-11-1 finish
2006-07: 14-3-1 start, 23-12-1 finish Chartier left team, Hanlon not healthy, Wacker ineligible
2007-08: 13-4-1 start, 27-7-4 finish
2008-09: 15-2-1 start, 32-5-3 finish
2009-10: 15-3-2 start, 26-9-5 finish Räty at Olympics for 4 losses
2010-11: 13-6-0 start, 26-10-2 finish,
2011-12: 17-3-0 start, 34-5-2 finish, national champions
2012-13: 20-0-0 start, 41-0-0 finish, national champions
2013-14: 19-1-0 start

It's not so much the cold as it is the wind. Hoping for a calm day/evening with the temp right around the freezing mark!

I know the fans would like that, but 32 would way too warm for outdoor ice conditions. If I could order the weather it would be between 10 and 15 with no wind. I think that would be a nice day in January.

That would be true if it were natural ice. It's not though, so 32 will work fine with the refrigerated rink they are using and will improve player and spectator comfort.
