Congrats to Miss Bozek and company....now you only need 43 more to equal UNH's from 1977-81

Would love to see a video of women's hockey back in those years and compare it to the level of play today...

Can we play club and D-III teams? Very nice streak, but this is one case where they truly are apples and oranges and tough to compare.

Re: Minnesota Golden Gopher Women's Hockey 2012-2013

It will be very interesting to see how both teams respond in tomorrow's rematch.

For the Gophers, whatever pressure they were feeling to set another record - coincidentally by having to beat the host team - is now in the past. I know the Coach Frost and the players have been downplaying the importance of the various streaks, but I can't help but wonder if they will come out with the same level of energy now that this latest record has been set, and that pressure is now off. Of course as a Gopher supporter I'm hoping that it won't make one bit of difference, that they have their sights set on much bigger things.

And for the Badgers, how much energy did they expend in trying to preserve at least a share of the record for their program? Certainly winning the 3 points would provide a big boost for their post season aspirations, but after giving it their all yesterday and still coming up short, will their confidence be affected, especially if the Gophers should grab an early lead?

My sense tells me that the importance of this rivalry goes well beyond any of this, and both teams will be mentally and physically ready to play. If so, I like the Gophers' chances! :)

Great to see our local media finally giving GWH more than a couple of token paragraphs.[/url]
Thanks for reposting both links, because those were the same links both newspapers used when they first published the "couple of token paragraphs". I'm very glad to see that both mini-recaps were replaced with full articles.

I'm not as concerned about the energy level dropping. Noora's shooting for record-tying win #100 tomorrow, and I'm sure that her teammates know it.

Actually the "full article" was in this morning's paper version of the Star Tribune, on the first page of the Sports section, no less, and it included a nice sized action photo! :)

I agree with ARM, they don't play at all like they are burdened.

Drop the puck, play hockey.

Go Gophers.

Ditto for the Pioneer Press. Front page top with a big color photo. I was pleasantly surprised when I picked it up

The following is from a friend in Columbus, Ohio.

Our newspaper, the Columbus Dispatch, gives little attention to college hockey. Thus I was surprised this morning to find on the second page of the sports section an excellent picture of a hockey player celebrating just having scored a goal with the opposing goalie spread out on the ice. The headline under the picture was, Plenty to celebrate. The brief explanation under the picture was, “Hannah Brandt of the Minnesota women’s hockey team exults after scoring in a 2-0 victory over Wisconsin, extending the Gophers’ NCAA-record winning streak to 33 games. Minnesota also set an NCAA record for consecutive games without a loss or tie.

OK, here's one:

If Minnesota defeats Wisconsin tomorrow afternoon every other WCHA team except UMD will be eliminated from contention for the regular season championship.

Which would make next weekend at Ridder just a little bit more fun.

Go Gophers.
