Hey, hey! The Gophers live to see another day. Outplayed again by ND on the slow start, but they battled harder as the game went on to eke out a W. Slow starts drive coaches bonkers. A little puck luck helped too with ND hitting three pipes.

It's do or end of season for both teams with identical records (15-14-7) tonight. Need more cowbell.

According to Motzko, he called a staffmember yesterday to see if they still had the "WOOGER" jerseys. He was told they've auctioned them off but haven't sent them out yet. "Good", he said, "we're wearing them tonight!". When asked by the media after the game if there is some luck involved in wearing them, he said, "Hey they've been workin', and it's playoff time we gotta do somethin'. We're gonna wear 'em tomorrow night too".

What happened to the guy who looked like a men among boys, unstoppable a month ago. Seems like the decline in Gopher effort coincides with Ranta coming to earth. Not that I am saying that Ranta is the only thing that made this team look like one that could beat anyone on a given night a month or so ago, just that both Ranta and team have really gone backwards at same time. Instead of Gophs out-hustling opponents, now I feel like most players are waiting for someone else to make a play. Show the team video of Hill Murray's effort last night and ask them if they think they can match the kids intensity.

BTW- wht channel tonight? Not on my guide. Need to record as I play tonight.

(And yes, even though Gophs are my number one team to follow, after Friday game I chose to record last nights game and watch HS live. Although, having my Alma Mata playing also figured into equation.)

Lucky you. Did you have to pay extra? Just make sure you sit in assigned seats so you don't have to move during play when the place fills up.

1. On Friday night just before the start of the 3rd I moved to a different section, hoping it might bring some luck. Didn't work! :mad:
2. On Saturday night I decided to not go to the game (still :mad:) and lo and behold THEY WON!
3. So tonight I'm again going with Strategy 2 - will again stay home - hoping that this strategy (which I'll call "Bringing the Bad Luck to the Irish") repeats itself.

Despite the sparse crowd the atmosphere was pretty good. Hats of to the band, they were fantastic and it seemed they were able to play a lot more than they do in regular season games.

Did they really wear them again this weekend? That’s legitimately the best story I’ve heard this whole season

Yes. They wore them on Saturday and Sunday. All future games they'll be the road team, so i think that streak is over. I suppose because they are gold, they could try to pull a Sweden and say they are home and road, but I doubt they can seeming the IIHF doesn't allow it anymore either.

I just read on GPL that they will be allowed to wear the gold Woogers this weekend.

Depressing. The creation of PSU hockey has the program bleeding badly. The least we could do is beat them once in a big game next week as payback...

Thanks for the link. Interesting article, and one with which I agree completely.

Conference re-alignment has severely eroded my general interest in a wide variety of college sports. I miss the traditional rivalries and have no motivation to watch my teams' new conference members play OOC foes, as I once did frequently.

People just say "accept it and move on, or see you later." First of all many people said see you later and look how easily they are being replaced... And second of all I am thankful I don't work for a company led by anyone with that attitude.

The conference leaders need to innovate. Cross conference scheduling or more affiliate members. If not, those 100 people saying get over it will be the only ones in Mariucci and they can all high five each other and sit wherever they want.

Yeah the comments section from the Strib is as worthless as Twitter and FB. The worst of the worst post. Also UW, UMi and MSU are traditional UM rivals, while the Gophers had and will again have next year a pretty **** NC schedule. And I don't miss playing the Alaskas and a few others.

If you've lost interest as in you don't even care and can't even be bothered to follow the team/watch games on TV then you weren't a real fan anyway.

When basically all the comments anywhere say the same thing, they reflect the overall public sentiment. The number of fans out there that like the Big Ten is probably hugely over-represented on these shrinking message boards. The numbers overall are just tiny, and getting new customers isn't going well because now the Wild are in town and many people graduating these days just don't care about sports.

Any word on Perbix?

And did any of you take pleasure is seeing Jackson and ND complaining about calls? I didn't think refs went one way or the other with bad calls, but good to see their season ended and to have them perceive it as refs fault. Doesn't make up for last year, when we had a team that was playing at the end of the year like one that had a chance of making it to NCAA and maybe win a couple, but there was some justice at least.
