Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

Keep finding these great articles on the better Minnesota hockey players!

Edina's Sami Reber Sparkles on Ice, in Classroom

http://edina.patch.com/articles/edinas-sami-reber-sparkles-on-ice-in-classroom

Good article but I was confused by one item. In the article it states that Ms. Reber signed a NLI. I see this same statement regarding other Ivy League recruits. My confusion is that I thought only athletes that get athletic scholarships sign NLIs. I've seen many articles that say that the Ivies aren't participants of the NLI program because they don't offer athletic scholarships. Can anyone fill in the blanks?

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

good opportunity for high school girls to see some pretty good DIII college hockey in Buffalo,Minn. the first week in January.Bethel,St.Ben's,St.Scholastica and St.Anselm(NH) in a two day tournament.I guess St.Anselm has a least a couple of Minnesotans on their roster.good opportunity to compare West vs. East DIII womens hockey.

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

Good game in Roseville Thursday night. The Raiders took a 3-1 lead into the third period, largely on the strength of a couple of Kate Flug break-away goals, and still enjoyed that lead with about 8 minutes to go. Then Rachael Bona scored her second of the night on a shot that Jenna Boss stopped, but couldn't control, and it trickled inside the near post. Coon Rapids dominated the action form that point on, with Bona assisting on the goals by her line mates that tied and put the Cardinals ahead. Amy Schlagel got her second into an empty net, and Roseville has now lost two straight after winning their first 9. Coon Rapids had a small but vocal student section that made as much noise as any road contingent I've heard at a girls' HS game outside of the tourney.

Results for the Kaposia:

1st round:
Roseville 6, Crookston 0
Warroad 3, Blake 0
Minnetonka 10, Hibbing-Chisholm 0
South Saint Paul 9, Pequot Lakes 1

Consolation semi-finals
Crookston 6, Blake 3
Hibbing-Chisholm 4, Pequot Lakes 1

Semi-finals
Warroad 5, Roseville 0
Minnetonka 2, South Saint Paul 1

Seventh place
Blake 8, Pequot Lakes 0

Consolation
Crookston 5, Hibbing-Chisholm 0

Third
Roseville 6, South Saint Paul 3

Championship
Minnetonka 1, Warroad 0

I couldn't find this reported in either metro daily newspaper. I also couldn't find complete results on Hockey Hub. All of the results are reported on Minnesota Sports Online.

In the semi-finals, defending Class A champion Warroad, playing without one of their best, disposes of defending Class AA champion Roseville, also playing without one of their best (both players currently with USA under 18s), but current Class AA number 1 ranked Minnetonka wins the tournament.

Scoring leaders update:

Minnetonka coach recently stated that "Warroad is the most offensively gifted team in the state." Hard to disagree when looking at the scoring stats.

Some great hockey throughout the Holiday tournament action...with a few surprising outcomes...and a disappointment here or there. :(

Should be very interesting the rest of the way and into the section playoffs. The SEC still up for grabs.

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey III

No excuses for not getting to a game tonight folks! Lots of good ones, especially if you live in the East part of the Metro (aka, God's Country):

Roseville at WBL (gives you a chance grab a brewski at the fabulous new Vadnais Hts. Sports Complex--fyi Hockey Hub mistakenly says it's at the WBL Sports Center)
Tartan at NSP (Polar) Sister schools where the kids all grew up playing with each other.
SSP at HM (Aldrich) Without HB this is the only chance HM has to lose a Classic game this year. SSP is tough, physical, and has a legit superstar in Sam LaShomb.
Woodbury/Eastridge at Bielenberg -- these schools are about 3 blocks apart. Many of the girls played together last year as South Washington.
Coon Rapids at Centennial -- Centennial is one of 2 or 3 challengers to CR in the NWS--also, if you've never seen Rachel Bona.....
Rosemount at Eastview (AV Sports Center)-- two of the heavies in the South Suburban
Wayzata/Minnetonka at Pagel -- don't laugh, under new coach Becky Wacker the Trojans are much improved. Minnetonka ain't too bad either.
Moundsview at Stillwater (St. Croix) MV's irresistible force vs. SW's immovable object.

Time to consider WBL for Top 10 yet?
