Ha ha yeah lately if even 2 mins.... More like 4 blind mice

But it has been a constant theme this year, taking portions of the game off and letting your opponent back into the game. They have been really lucky so far that it has not really bitten them in the *** yet. Denver, North Dakota and bc - if they smell blood in the water they will stand on our throats and lop it off with their skate blade.
AMEN.... And the Final 5 cluster is exactly want is in store if they can't wake the f up and stay awake.Far too many guys puck watching in the third period. Far too many guys beat to loose pucks in our zone because they were standing still. Far too little puck support. Far too many guys stripped of pucks because they weren't strong on the puck. Happened twice in our zone to Alt, and one almost lead to a goal. Far too many turnovers because our guy's heads weren't in the game.
The Marshall turnover when he whiffed on a one timer (too many of those by too many guys too) and then tried to pinch to hold the zone was a momentum killer. But when you lose momentum you have to get to work and get it back. Instead of getting pucks in deep and getting our forecheck going again, it's almost as though we went into a shell. Has happened far too many times this season.
This game reminded me too much of that Final Five disaster we had last season. Question is, do they learn from this? Cannot fall asleep on ANY lead at this level.
The positive spin on all this is they are 11-3-3 (many teams would love that record) and have not really put it all together yet (Bjugs officially struggling). That to me is huge, this team can still go a long way, they get that first line cranking like we know they will, watch out.
Hard to complain about getting 3 points on the road, even though they clearly let the 4th get away from them.
Still sitting well in the conference and I don't think it's worth getting worked up over.

Then don't. I'm a little frustrated, and will take the opportunity to vent a little. If that's ok with you.
I posted before you so not sure how my comment could have anything to do with you. And fwiw I get the frustration - I'm disappointed they let that point get away.
The Gophers clearly outplayed CC in the first, which I thought was one of the best periods of hockey they've put together all season. But then they let CC slowly back in the game in the 2nd and 3rd with some very sloppy play, poor positioning and lack of offensive effort. Credit CC for their resilience to salvage at least a point at home, and showing why they're the overall top scoring team in the WCHA so far this season, especially in the third period. Hopefully losing that point won't come back to haunt the Gophers later in the season.
The same thing happened to BC the other night who gave up a two goal third period lead and the tying goal with 10 seconds left against a mediocre Providence team. It shows once again it's not so much about how you start, but about how you finish.
In retrospect, the Gophers obviously have lots of room for improvement to become a full 60 minute team with a "killer instinct" to put teams away. I was hoping they'd go into the break tied for 1st in the WCHA, but I'll take the 3 pts. on the road...still good, with hope for more improvement going into the break. The second half should be quite a ride...

I cursed Marshall's name for the first time this season. Right when he went forward instead of back after heeling that shot I shouted "*******"

This is what I hope happens. I hope tDon & Co don't let the boys forget about this one all break long. This one should not sit well with anyone and I hope this becomes motivation to bring it every night and every shift after the break.Maybe there will be a silver lining. It could leave a slightly bitter taste in the Gophers' mouths, and give them some extra incentive to have a strong second half. I'm already looking forward to the game with BC.

And the good news(or bad news depending how it plays out) is that we will find out right off the bat once the break is over. I'm assuming BC will be the type of team that will make you pay for sleepwalking. And I'm not looking past Air Force either. Important non-conference games!!This. If they learn from this, then this frustrating collapse can have a positive effect on the second half.
