Minnesota at Denver Feb 10 & 11

Re: Minnesota at Denver Feb 10 & 11

Former Gopher Aaron Ness called up to Islanders this morning on an emergency basis as Isles have 2 d-men injured. No determination by Capuano if he will dress tomorrow night.

is Denver that team that used to have a cool mascot, and now is stuck with a jelly doughnut?
The newest addition to Magness Arena is a 60 yard long mural that was inspired by Mariucci Arena. The rather large "unofficial mascot" pictured below is causing quite the stir...

This is about 20% of the mural.

Make up your minds already. Jelly donut, lumberjack or a chickenhawk (upper right)? What's up with the bird (If you were North Dakota, I get it)?

BTW, are the casino's worth a visit? Is it just one casino or multiple? Friday cannot get here soon enough.

This would be a good time to get to my first game at Magness. How much do tickets typically run?

Never visited them but I believe they have $5 per hand max.

More proof that Ness wouldn't contribute anything to this Gopher team if he were here.

Do they have scalping laws in Denver (tickets, not heads)? And what are the student sections?

Very much looking forward to being in Denver during the winter. I cannot wait for my first hcokey road trip to Colorado.

Have you dug out from the snow yet?

Tickets at the regional in Denver in '07 were readily available on the street, so my guess is scalping is a-ok out there.
The law says that you can't charge more than face value, and you can't sell on the property where the event takes place. Across the street is fine. That said, I don't remember ever seeing anyone scalping DU hockey tickets. Pretty sure you can still get them from the box office, though.

Who the heck ever mentioned a bet? (Well, other than you)

Oh, and cards on the table, I have a shameful, shameful skeleton in my closet. A girl that used to be my niece is a freshman at Minnesota this year. Obviously, I have disowned her.

They aren't bad, they upped the limits a couple years ago, to $100. Now it's hard to find a $5 table, especially at night (much like Vegas). They closely monitor alcohol intake, I once got cut off after 2 beers, at 9am (ski traffic was unbearable so we made a pitstop). It's a scenic canyon at the very least, and it's unique to see a 30 story high rise in such a small town.

It is the meet and right thing to do. Amen

So how many goals do people reckon the Pioneers will score in their back-to-back shutouts of the Gophers? My money's on 7.

Sounds like a betting proposition to me. How the hell else would one interpret that? I just want to know how much of your money you want to put on 7 as I will take the under. :p

Re: Minnesota at Denver Feb 10 & 11

Don't be foolish. I root for a sweep of the Gophers EVERY weekend, regardless.
You're batting .000 this season with that wish, so you must be drowning in the depths of disappointment by now.

I hope you're prepared for yet more disappointment in the weeks to come - judging by your team's failings the past couple weeks, it looks like they are doing their level best to avoid winning the conference title.

There's a Pioneer-Gopher connection tonight as Rhett Rakhshani and Aaron Ness dress for the Islanders against the Flyers tonight at 7:00 pm ET. DU's Hobey winner Matt Carle will skate for the Flyers, don't think there's a gopher on that team, just a Beaver.;)

One at the helm though:
