Mike Leone

Re: Mike Leone

Yeah, he doesn't stay in one place for very long. He did well for us when he was here, but he didn't exactly settle in for the long haul.

Re: Mike Leone

I found this thread doing some research for a post about recruits in my blog. The reason I was researching Leone is because he will be playing D1 hockey for Western Michigan this season.

You've got to be kidding me?

Utica seems like a long lost memory now...

Hammer:

I am having trouble finding stats from last year on Leone. Was he #13? I remember a big player in the game against SNC who was clearly the best player on the ice for Adrian. If this is the loss, a very big loss at that!

Re: Mike Leone

Leone was not on Adrian's roster last season. He played the 1st half of the 08-09 season at Utica, and the 2nd half at Adrian. He spent last year at Lindenwood (I think).

Our "bigger" guys are #14 Workman, #25 Towns, and I guess you could consider #15 Kuzyk as big, I suppose. But there was no #13 on our roster last year.

Leone played 11 games for Lindenwood last season.

Mike Leone
Season 2008-09 here (Utica - 9 games - 5 goals/13 assists & Adrian - 14 games - 9 goals/16 assists)
Season 2009-10 here (Lindenwood - 11 games - 5 goals/11 assists)

Re: Mike Leone

Did that burn a year of NCAA eligibility?

According to the WMU roster he is coming in as a sophomore. So unless the roster is wrong then, no, that 11 games at Lindenwood did not burn any eligibility.

I would think it means he is an academic sophomore by virtue of transferrable credits, but I don't see how he can have more than 2 years of eligibility left.

Actually the roster calls him a redshirt sophomore. Again, they could be wrong, but at this point they are clearly calling him a sophomore in terms of athletic eligibility.

Re: Mike Leone

That's an awfully long document that I don't have the time to read. Would you care to pinpoint the rule that supports your opinion?

The entire document essentially says that if you play in organized intercollegiate sports (NCAA, NAIA, ACHA, etc); you use a year of eligibility. It does provide numerous exceptions, but only for extenuating circumstances, which based upon his playing career, when he played, he fully participated without qualifying events.
