You didn't get beat by the refs... you got beat by a better team.
No kidding. Sioux controlled 65-70% of the game.
You didn't get beat by the refs... you got beat by a better team.
Seriously...you're going to blame the refs? Just because you have a good powerplay that's justification for calling more penalties? Jeez...
They missed calls on your end, too.
Not "my" end. I'm a BU fan...we were in a different regional. I'm just commenting on your statement...going down the "officiating" rathole won't get you anywhere. But, since you brought it up, North Dakota was better. Period.
While the reffing certainly wasn't the best, it certainly wasn't biased against michigan. For every uncalled interference on UND there was two on mich. Plus michigan was the recipient of a blatant make-up call. Remember, refs screw over UND, not their opponents...
I think what the poster was going for was that the only way Michigan was going to beat North Dakota was if the refs called everything. Even if Michigan only got 10 powerplays to North Dakota's 20, the Wolverines may have been able to outscore North Dakota, who struggled with the man advantage. That may have been true, as North Dakota dominated Michigan 5x5, and both of Michigan's goals were essentially on the powerplay (the first coming 11 seconds after Michigan's abbreviated powerplay and while still controlling the zone). Fortunately, we will never know.

I agree with everything you said basically but him bringing up the refs really smelled like sour grapes... and I wasn't the only one to smell it. There were a ton of mich fans on twitter claiming their team was screwed by the refs. That was not the case today.
UND's Heavy Line of Johnson, Gardner, and Poganski held their CCM line to a minus 7 rating while they themselves had a combined 2 goals 1 assist and a plus 5 rating. Very impressive. That was the difference among that they just simply outworked the ugly helmets lines 1 thru 4.
That can't be right. The three Hobey finalists were a combined minus 7? Are you sure your calculator isn't broken? That's the only rationale explanation.
It's Fighting Hawks.
{sigh}
I didn't blame the refs. I said what happened. Missed calls. Again. In an NCAA Tournament game. Shocker. They missed calls on your end, too. Their refusal to call interference either way was laughable.
That wasn't what lost Michigan the game, though. Turning the puck over a million times did. The only hope of covering up those mistakes was going on the powerplay, and Michigan was on it once all weekend. So naturally I'm going to bring it up.
But there's no guarantee Michigan would've went 3-for-3 on it, so much of the OP was sour grapes.
Two things that plagued the team all year long--turnovers and terrible refs--combined for some kind of evil cuisine to ruin this one.
I thought it was a great game, refs had nothing to with outcome. UND controlled the game especially after Michigan scored. Michigan was good, No Dakota better
