Re: Middlebury Panthers Hockey 2010- 2011
As you probably know, I am a Dartmouth alum, and have continued to follow the Ivies. My point is that the Ivies seem to play better with their DI brethern than the NESCACs do with their DIII brethern. In no way do place the blame for this on Midd, although some of the more divisive DIII proposals emanated from ex-Midd president McCardle. I think/hope Midd wants to continue the hockey series with Norwich. I hope that going back to a weeknight game won't make the rivalry any less intense. Norwich's rivalry with Midd in hockey is very special and I want it to continue. THE GAME means a lot on our campus.
I also look forward to going down to Thompson to see the Cadets play there - it should be a good time. Thompson is a great facility, and it's about 55 minutes from Northfield.
Prof I have had quite a bit of contact with Dartmouth students and staff over the years and haven't observed any elitist attitude. You find all type's of people at these schools just like you would at Norwich. Now the NESCAC Admin people are in another class for no other reason in the way the interlock was ended without any notice for a number of months. With the interlock ended and the season extended for Norwich and Castleton it gives the fans in Vermont a chance to travel around to see teams like Middlebury play when no games are scheduled for your home team. I an looking forward to traveling down to Thompson Arena next fall to see how the Cadets match up with D1 Dartmouth.
