Blais will coach the Gophers next year. No chance Lucia comes to Tech, he's already got the mindset that he's way too good for that. He'll lay low for a little while then take over at Notre Dame, his alma mater, after Jeff Jackson gets bored there, and goes to look for another team to drag out of the dumpster.

I have reserved a room at the very classy Motel 6, of St, Clooud. $34/night, don't know who all will be staying there, but no matter how many, it will be cheap and dirty. On the bright side, we will be too drunk to worry about all of the semen in the bedding.

So be it, but in the mean time, Blais is building up the program and now UNO has got the notoriety of having had Blais coach there, which will make finding a quality replacement that much easier. If he ends up staying for four-five years, maybe he brings them to the final four or a NT before he leaves.

You do realize that regardless of how much money Tech throws at him, Houghton & MTU are a massive step down for tDon, right? That'd be like Frontbutt taking over at I-AA Delaware State after ND fired him.

Why would Lucia, a proven coach, do anything but laugh and wait for an offer from a school that...

A. ...is not in the middle of nowhere? Sure, he coached in Fairbanks two decades ago, but he was young and used it as a resume-builder. He is now older, probably enjoys a cushy suburban lifestyle, and has a family to consider.

B. ...has a halfway-decent program that he could simply put over the top?

Now I'll address your first choice, whom I see you still haven't given up on. Hypothetically-speaking, explain how Blais shows up at MTU, turns us around in 3-5 years, then leaves for the MN job. We'd be right back to square one with the coaching turnovers, new system, new recruiting connections, etc.

Bottom Line: When it comes to hiring coaches, it's not simply about the money.

I say we hire Jamie Ram or Damian Rhodes or maybe give Teslak a free year of school and some money and he can coach.. Goalies always make good coaches (see John MacInnes).
