Look at it on the bright side. The team doesn't have to fly back to Latvia after the GLI. :)

Instead they get to bus back to Houghton and then drive to St, Clooud, both of which might as well be a flight to Latvia. ;)

Except they've won in Latvia more recently than they have in St, Clooud.

Re: Michigan Tech Season Thread Part IV: You Guys Give Up, Or Are You Thirsty For Mor

Boy am I glad things didn't work out, and I am still at home. I am also glad I didn't listen to the game like I planned too and played 6 hours of Borderlands instead. What a freaking joke! Last year seemed like it was going to be the worst season we would ever have to watch, but leave it to Tech to prove that theory wrong.

So the plan for tomorrow is sit at home and be lazy playing video games and completely forget the fact Tech even has a hockey team, because it seems we don't have one anyway.

Then Thursdays plan is to go celebrate new years with my best friends, remember how bad the hockey team is and get 5hitfaced.

P.S. I am now officially a Tech women's basketball fan. :D

They played awesomely tonight. Seriously. Minus the fact that they almost blew a 20 point lead, but in all seriousness, it was really nice to finally see a team wearing white, gold, and black get a W.

It would be nice to have a hockey team that could lead a game and actually win.

Yeah.. That would be pretty nice. I'm considering boycotting Tech's games and just going to all of my brother's mite games this year.

Repost from tLodge:
So... I hate RPI (sorry Ralph)
Anyone recall that bet I made? The one where there's $50 for every goal in the margin of victory the next time Tech played UM... yeah. Thought I'd get away with not having to face it this year but nooooo.
* me. :(

If there is any consolation to the suckiness that is this year's GLI, it's going to be you losing a lot of money on a very dumb bet. :p :D

Re: Michigan Tech Season Thread Part IV: You Guys Give Up, Or Are You Thirsty For More?

I had some other business that I had to do today before heading to the Joe, so I got there late. And when I got there, parked, and walking over to the Joe, I felt the urge to answer Natures Call. The Signal was for a curveball. I was getting worried about holding it back as I was walking thru the pedestrian overpass to the Joe. And right about where the Ticket office is where I saw the portajohns. Normally, I would only go number one in a portajohn, but this was an emergancy that needed to be address. As I sat down on the frozen plastic there, Sparty scored goal number nine. I should have stayed there in the portajohn, as the smell only got worse inside of the building. :(

You guys will probably get outshot 40-15 tomorrow and get abused all over the ice and yet win 2-1. Quite frankly, it will be fantastic.

What's significantly more likely is that we'll trade soft goals until the third (so it'll be 3-3 or 4-4), and then Michigan will score the go-ahead goal with less than 30 seconds left in regulation by out-battling our gutless team in front of their own net.

But thanks for the laugh.

If not for you guys, I'd be sitting home tomorrow.

I will say this: you kept it entertaining.

I fear we're getting too good at entertaining ourselves. It says something about the team on the ice that is supposed to be doing the entertaining. :(

Unfortunately, this may be true. :( As an NMU fan, I'm ingrained to smirk and gloat when things go bad for you, but I just can't this year.

I'm sorry. I'm just... very very... sorry.

I don't know what is worse for JR, the fact that he seems to have lost his team or the fact that the results have made some of us question whether he's lost us :(

Don't laugh, it's completely possible with this year's Michigan team.

Here, have some evidence:
Michigan loss to BGSU 4-2 shots UM 31- BG 21
Loss to tOSU 5-3 shots UM 45 - *eyes 20
Loss to Notre Dame 2 -0 shots UM 38 - ND 20
and of course
Loss to RPI 4-3 shots UM 46 - RPI 13
And yes, all of those examples are from this season. :(

Oh I know, Michigan's had some games where Hogan has been their undoing. But at the moment, the only options for this Tech team seem to be losing heartbreakers (MN, NMU) or losing blowouts (as you saw yesterday).

I will be interested in seeing the team's response to being utterly outclassed on the rink in front of 2000+ alumni yesterday. It'll go a long way towards determining whether or not Russell still has the ear of this squad.

Okay, you need to be shot for this statement. I don't care if Tech gets shut out every game, you never say you're a fan of WOMENS basketball

Basketball is a sport?
