Well it was that bad. Absolutely embarrrrasssssing. I was with a hockey guy from Toronto. He had some pretty unkind words.

I think there are so many bad parts you can't even write them down.
But..
Goaltending was truly awful. reminds me of luciano...yes I was there the last time this happened.
I saw Gwillam's man score twice with gman standing next to him each time and not doing anything to stop the guy.
I saw the forwards repeatedly leave the off wing uncovered, guess who got the puck.
I saw more energy from my grandmother when she was 92 years old, and she could still back check better than these guys.. I thought maybe we had special drag devices fitted to the skates.

I saw baker ......ummm. I would bench baker...I saw such bad defense I could....well forget it.It was laughable really.

We have to pass better, We have to play better team defense, We have to move the puck much more quickly and be willing to share it, our position hockey is not good..I could go on..

Bright spots. A couple of the freshmen looked ok. They will be good. I liked Brown playing forward.

RPI was not the better team against um but they cleared all the rebounds and played fundamentally sound even though michigan totally dominated them.

Well, take a baseball bat and ***** me up the a55 with it. It'd probably be more pleasurable that watching the WORST performance I have ever seen in my life from a "Division I" hockey team. :rolleyes: :mad:

This team was not at all prepared to play, and I'm sorry to say that the blame for that can only fall upon the coaching staff. Thus, tonight I did the unthinkable. Something I swore I'd never do in my life.

Yes, I started a "FIRE RUSSELL!" chant. Though it should be noted that we followed it up with a "HIRE BABCOCK!" chant, so at least it only sounded half-serious.

I'm prepared to take a lot of flack for doing that, but at no point in that light skate for the Spartans could anyone say that the Michigan Tech Huskies looked ready to battle. The only Tech goal was an opportune bounce for Dobson, and was the result of just about the only sustained pressure in the MSU zone for the entire "game".

Genoe allowed two fat softies, then Robinsieve never even got the chance to warm up when he immediately gave up a goal that, while definitely not his fault (it was a nice deke after a pass that should not have even been allowed to happen), shattered his confidence right out of the gate. That gave MSU all the energy they needed to just absolutely ******** curbstomp us from there. :mad:

I am at a point where I fear that Russell has lost this team and they've quit listening to him altogether. The excuses of injuries and youth only go so far. Once that happens, I'm sorry to say that it is only a matter of time. :(

I will say this: while the team did terribly, I can't say enough good things about the fanbase present. They kept cheering and generally making noise. It was fun. :)

And, for the record, there is now a "Fire Russell" facebook group.

hey Brent I like how you assume I'm generally competent enough to get a contingent over to Europe while MNS is basically in incompetent pile of horse *t. Thanks man. :)

Wow! now I'm glad I didn't drive to Detroit. Maybe after we get raped in St. Cloud I'll drive north and buy a Beaver Jersey...

If I wasn't hanging out with friends down there tomorrow, I would eat the cost of the ticket and not even go.

I didn't exactly say you'd get there. I just said it'd be an adventure (for lack of a better word) flying in a plane you are piloting. ;)

I think this one needs to be re-read a few times. I like Jamie, I think he's a good guy, and I think he's gotten screwed a few times, but I've heard some things, and sometimes change is necessary

I fear we're getting too good at entertaining ourselves. It says something about the team on the ice that is supposed to be doing the entertaining. :(
