Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

Is it really that important to be the first to offer?

This last committment is an interesting one, he played all 4 years at HS and maybe I missed it but it doesn't look like a team has his USHL rights. So maybe he'll be in teh NAHL next year?

EDIT: Here's an article form a year ago, seems like a pretty smart kid.

He participated in two USHL camps and still has a decent chance of catching on with someone in the USHL. At this point though, the BCHL or NAHL are just as likely.

He's on Bismarck's protected list in the NAHL, so he'll likely play there if he doesn't catch on with a USHL team.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

Is anyone else amazed that the NCAA has left Reddick in limbo this long about a 5th year? I would've thought he'd get an answer sooner rather than later so we could know if he should move on with his life or not.

From the Tech Hockey Guide twitter, Seigo is at the Capitals developmental camp. The last time we talked about the Capitals developmental camp it was about Jake Hauswirth. I wonder if he regrets skipping college to play years in the ECHL.

It looks like most of the boards are up around the rink.

Has Bryce finished his degree, or applied for a graduate degree? I forget what was said about whether he did.

With comments like this, you must think the NCAA cares about hockey players. They're too busy figuring out how they can milk more money from the new D1A football playoff to devote much time to deciding Bryce's fate. :p

In the end, Rudy the Eligibility Chicken will have two identical kernels of corn placed on two sheets of paper in front of him, with the words "Yes" and "No" printed on them. Whichever kernel he eats first, that will be Reddick's answer. ;)

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

If anyone has an interest, I am putting one of my Conner jerseys up for sale. 2006-07 Dallas Stars. $150 including shipping for a Tech fan.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

This young man wouldn't happen to be related to another Olson out of the Duluth-Superior area that we know and love, would he?

Don't know, but Brett has a brother named Trent who is a rising senior at Superior HS. Defenseman with 3G and 7A in 24 games last season. Don't know if he has any potential to play beyond high school.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

There are some names on that list, that are uncommitted, that I'd like to see Tech go after.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

I'm going to a collectors show out East in a couple weeks and Steiner Sports (who handles the Rangers) will be there so the hole might get even deeper if they have a Scott jersey with nice wear.
John Scott +1
Found one for purchase, however upon doing some research today I don't think it was game worn as Scott never wore a blue "Rangers crested" jersey. So I guess I'll get to see how Steiner's exchange / return policy works.
Oh well,
Ryan J

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

Anyone know if Max Vallis is planned to skate with the team this season? He's not listed on the MTU website roster but is still on the recruiting matrix for this year.
I ask because Mel carried 31 players on the roster last season, but the current roster on the MTU website lists only 28.
Could a few more still be in the works?
Vallis?, Reddick?, Sturos?

I should also add that if you bring up last year's roster, it chops off the bottom 3 players alphabetically....perhaps a bug on the MTU website.

You dare question the Tech website???? :)

I don't think Mel wanted to carry 31 last year. He just wanted to give the players where were there a fair shake. I think 28 is more the norm.

Yeah, I think Pearson made the cuts he had to make (Dorito, Witt), then decided a few extras could hang around, practice, and maintain competition for the last forward/6th defenseman job.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

Tech announced the ticketing scheme for next season

Biggest change is that SRO will only be sold once the reserved seating is sold out. With all the people who stand at ice level and along the rails in the west end of the rink, I'm surprised it wasn't implemented sooner, but I suppose they feel they finally might have a team that will justify this policy. To make up for this a bit, they have dropped the price for non-premium games from $17 to $15. Premium games (NMU, Carny, and I'm guessing B1G teams) will still be $20 reserved.
