Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

CC brought a handful of their players' parents. I figure Denver will probably be the same.

I agree the WMU repeat is unnecessary, but you have to look at it purely from the financial perspective of the tourney organizers. In the near future, I see the GLI primarily inviting other Michigan schools in an effort to maximize attendance, with an "outside" team appearing every third or fourth year. In fact, I am a little surprised that this hasn't been tried already, because it seems like ticket sales have dwindled almost every year that I've gone (since 2004).
I assume it is because the rest of the Michigan schools were in the same conference as Michigan and Michigan State...

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

If thats the case, we should have given Denver the boot and found someone new. Non-Ivy ECAC teams are always looking for non conference games. Invite Union, RPI, St. Lawrence, Clarkson, Quinnipiac...

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

My guess is that they did it to annoy everyone here.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

Denver will travel with their usual 20-25 fans. they were chosen because of the deep satisfaction that will come with having 3 Michigan teams beat them. Gwoz can buy the team coneys and cheap hookers instead of ice cream. and Detroit hotels? who cares if they get trashed.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

So Robby Nolan wore the #37 because it was the number he wore throughout his childhood because he liked being a little different.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

Any fans of Chris Conner can pick up his Red Wings jerseys from last season. After playing a total of 8 games last season the Wings priced his jerseys at.... $750. No, that's not for the pair of home and road jerseys, that's EACH. Feel free to grab them while they last and you'll have plenty of time to think about it at that price. #crazynhlmarketing

Looky here...Sertich presser from when he took the job in 2000.

that made me a little sad and glad at the same time (wipes away tear). Sertie was the best. Tech was fortunate to have had him. I'll never forget his first BLC lunch. he was hilarious. classy coach and he really did save us from the depths of hockey hell. oh, geez, I'm getting all nostalgic! the old Mac ...

Somehow I'm not suprised. Have you seen the price of tickets for the winter classic. Start at $89.

Can't wait to see what they'll want for the outdoor GLI.

After I got over the shock of the classic tickets they also had the other game prices.

If you care to have a decent view of the ice (upper deck), it'll be $39.

I was interested in the Winter Classic, until I saw that it would be $129 to get high enough to view the flow of the game.

That the price direct from Hockeytown Authentics?

I know his MeiGray jerseys are priced high, but that's just how MeiGray's prices them.

Yeah, there is a lady Christi that handles their gameworns at Hockeytown. It only took her 31 days to reply to my email... She said $750 was the lowest price for any jerseys this year because of the "special patch". If they are ever 66% off I might think about it and even at that I would likely be taking a big loss to sell them some day.
MeiGray is really high priced for the "Gotta have it now" jersey collecting crowd. At most you might get 10% during the season or for preordering a certain player. However, they are also very fair to their loyal buyers and have a huge sale every summer. The terms change a bit from year to year but generally it is 25% off anything from the most recent season (2011-12 this summer) and 50% off most everything else. So Chris' $395 jerseys become <$200 and pretty reasonable. They also have a ton of Andy Sutton jerseys from the Thrashers and Islanders in the same price range.

At $89 I'm guessing you are either below the level of the boards or more than 500' from the ice. Am I close on my guess?

Oohhh. That high just because of the Lokomotiv patch on the shoulder? For that price I hope a good portion of that goes to the McCrimmon, Salei, and Liv families.

Yeah, MeiGray is the supermarket of hockey jerseys, and I certainly do keep an eye on their summer sales. I haven't purchased through them, but I know a few people who have. Their sales always seem to happen when I can't afford to spend money.

$89 is the down low price. Prices get higher the higher in the bowl you get (obviously due to the somewhat better views).
I've heard that there may be ZERO public tickets available once the season ticket holders for the Wings, Leafs, Griffins, and Marlies; corporate sponsors; and NHL partners get first crack.

Such a terrible setup to watch a hockey game. Set a record, be part of an "experience" sure ok but even the televised view was not up to snuff. Though I do know several CA's that were just waiting for tickets to go on sale.
