Ok, has anyone heard when the announcements are expected for the assistant coaches.

I do not believe that Mel is interested in Brian Renfrew.
He doesn't seem to fit what is needed.

I think one of the USNDTP coaches will be announced and Damon Whitten will remain as an assistant. This would be an exciting mix with Mel to bring the Tech program back.

I've basically heard that they will bring in both Renfrew and Muckalt and haven't heard anything different.

In other news...Mel Pearson will make $275k per season in salary and will get an extra $125k in deferred compensation if he coaches Tech the full 5 seasons.

???. Beside State struggling the past couple years, his resume doesn't look bad to me. With Pearson, Renfrew and Muckalt (assuming that's the staff) they have 5 combined NCAA Championships and NHL experience (with Muckalt) which certainly doesn't hurt for recruiting/marketing purposes.

I think NHL experience is a big plus especially to get higher level players. You know the type that leave after two, three years.

If Mel wasn't interested in Renfrew, why would he have him in town for an interview?

Ok, sorry, I don't really want to discuss the economics of Liechtenstein, or anywhere else for that matter.

I think Tech fans are sick of the asinine drivel that yooper hockey and technohusky keep posting. So I made this as a semi-hidden place to hide a new version of the Tech Season Thread. Hopefully they don't find it.

Go read through the last 2 pages of any thread with any connection to Tech in D1 and you'll decide to not reveal it out of pity.

So to actually talk about the topic at hand. It looks like Renfrew and Muckalt are Pearson's chosen assistants? Does anyone have a guess on what Whitten's official title would be if Refrew and Muckalt are the AC's?

Shirtless Guy made a point to me a couple days ago, technically they're not doing anything wrong, they're just really effing stupid. Yeah, maybe they're trolling, but I don't think it is enough for board to actually banninate them, they'll just be back every 2 weeks after the suspensions are done. If they're this horrible in the offseason, what are they going to do when October comes around?
