Great season Wolverines. Ya don't take the NC Championship game to OT without having a great team. I just stopped by to say great season to the deserving players, coaching staff and fans.

Are their any quality leads as to who Tech might hire or interview for any of the coaching positions? I'm still a little hung over from celebrating his departure...

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

Great game last night and one that will bring more fans to college hockey. I thought the biggest stat was all the face-offs won by UMD. That was a huge factor. UMD was faster and had more bounce at the end.
I thought they had the easiest road of any of the final four teams into the finals but they played great when it counted.
I think it will be especially gratifying to beat them next year.

I am in need of a connection at what used to be ERIM and is now MTRI, in A2. anyone know anyone there? This is not hockey related but since there are so many grads here I thought it would be worth a shot.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

Imagine my surprise to open the paper (Detroit Free Press) this morning and find out that Tech won their first Championship in 1975 (and since they haven't won since it must be their only one) Wonder why George Sipple and the rest of the Free Press staff decided to strip Tech of it's 62 and 65 Championships. Or maybe it was just half *****ed reporting....feel free to contact George and the Free Press and give 'em a 'pat' on the back for their quality work.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

Its still legal as far as the NCAA is consern, and there's no reason why MTU's unoffical fan Bloggers can't do the same as long as there's nothing underhanded done like under the table cash payments in envelopes, boose or women.

If these fan bloggers have bought tickets to their schools athletic events or given money to the Athletic Department they are considered boosters by the NCAA. If they have any contact with recruits to discuss the university's Athletic (hockey) program they are in violaation of NCAA rules...

That may be the case, but would the NCAA actually do anything about it? Not likely.

Take a picture and post it

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

They won't let me post pictures. I must not be trust worthy enough. But here's the writer's email sipple@freepress.com

FTGB -- Yes I agree. I doubt the NCAA has the time or inclination to track down every blogger and their contact of recruits. So it goes on.

The Detroit News had a picture of Michigan players captioned that they were celebrating "their victory over Western Michigan in the CCHA tournament"

You should probably just consider yourselves lucky that they didn't give your titles to Northern or something.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

True enough. They are good at that arn't they. If it doesn't revolve around UM or MSU they'll make it up as they go so that it does.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

Who are the recruits for this coming years team? Has tech got their hands on any of the Calumet players yet?

I don't believe Reid Sturos is coming next year any more. Also would not be surprised if the new coach pulls Johnstone for next year.
